He couldn't resist launching one of the Spanish left's favorite tactics, the ad hominem fallacy, against a communicator they find particularly annoying: \"It's not very normal that, in this country, the man who used to explain to us that UFOs were coming, is now explaining the country's corruption<\/strong>.\"<\/em><\/p>\n

Obviously, \u00c9vole is referring to Iker Jim\u00e9nez<\/strong>, director of the mystery program \"Cuarto Milenio\" on the Cuatro channel, who is enjoying enormous success with a political news program, \"Horizonte\"<\/strong>, on the same channel. With his attack on Iker Jim\u00e9nez, the leftist journalist has achieved the exact opposite of what he perhaps intended: messages of support for Iker have multiplied on social media in recent hours<\/strong>, because with his program he is doing something that \u00c9vole seems incapable of: shedding light on the socialist corruption scandals<\/strong>. It is this light that \u00c9vole presents as a smear campaign, aligning himself with the government's strategy of discrediting all media outlets and journalists who investigate these corruption scandals.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In democratic countries, it is often said that journalism is the fourth estate, because its function is to hold the three branches of government accountable:<\/strong> the executive branch (the government), the legislative branch (parliament), and the judicial branch (the judges). With his program, Iker Jim\u00e9nez is brilliantly fulfilling that function.<\/strong> One has to wonder if that is what bothers Jordi \u00c9vole, because as a journalist he should have the same objective, but at this point it is clear that he does not.<\/p>\n

A simple test suffices: Since S\u00e1nchez came to power, \u00c9vole has only used the word \"corrupci\u00f3n\" (corruption) in three tweets<\/a> and none of them were about the Socialist scandals<\/strong>. Two were about the corruption of the PP (which has been in opposition for eight years) and one was about drug trafficking in Barbate. In the midst of an explosion of Socialist corruption scandals, \u00c9vole seems too busy pointing fingers at other journalists<\/strong> to fulfill his duty as a journalist, which is to hold power to account. Is this simply due to ideological affinity or is there some other explanation?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Whatever the answer to that question, Iker Jim\u00e9nez could invite the Catalan journalist to his mystery program<\/strong>, because that would be a very generous way of describing the enigma of \u00c9vole being unable to write a single tweet about it amidst the explosion of socialist political filth. In the end, it's likely that Jordi \u00c9vole finds it easier to see a UFO than to see socialist corruption<\/strong>. Perhaps he could even organize the program about extraterrestrials himself, if only to have another way to distract our attention from all the rot that has accumulated in the ranks of the Spanish left.<\/p>\n
