{"id":66517,"date":"2026-08-03T11:45:32","date_gmt":"2026-08-03T09:45:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/?p=66517"},"modified":"2026-08-03T11:45:32","modified_gmt":"2026-08-03T09:45:32","slug":"a-spanish-air-force-a330-mrtt-aircraft-on-an-elephant-walk-in-australia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2026\/08\/03\/a-spanish-air-force-a330-mrtt-aircraft-on-an-elephant-walk-in-australia\/","title":{"rendered":"A Spanish Air Force A330 MRTT aircraft on an 'elephant walk' in Australia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Expeditionary Air Group sent by the Spanish Air Force to Australia is producing some very curious images.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><rel><a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2026\/07\/24\/the-spanish-air-forces-long-flight-to-australia-from-inside-an-a330-mrtt\/\">The Spanish Air Force's long flight to Australia from inside an A330 MRTT<\/a><\/rel><br \/>\n<rel><a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2026\/07\/20\/the-raaf-shows-the-spanish-air-force-aircraft-that-have-arrived-in-australia\/\">The RAAF shows the Spanish Air Force aircraft that have arrived in Australia<\/a><\/rel><\/p>\n<p><strong>One of these demonstrations took place on July 24 at RAAF Amberley<\/strong>, Australia's largest military base, located in Queensland on the country's east coast. <strong>The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) organized an \"elephant walk,\"<\/strong> as a demonstration in which a group of aircraft performs a formation on a runway is known in aviation jargon. <strong>This walk included one of the two A330 MRTTs sent by Spain to Australia.<\/strong> The RAAF posted this video of the \"elephant walk\" last Thursday on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@AusAirForce\" target=\"_blank\">its YouTube channel<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Elephant Walk | Air power and international partnership, Pitch Black 2026\" width=\"665\" height=\"374\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/a3Wz-wWBk5k?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>In the video, we can see this image of the Spanish A330 MRTT that participated in that demonstration<\/strong>, the T.24-02 (452-02), whose tail fin displays the commemorative emblem for the centenary of the great flights of Spanish aviation, an anniversary that began with the centenary of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2026\/07\/01\/the-feat-of-the-spanish-seaplane-plus-ultra-in-1926-shown-in-color-in-a-documentary\/\">flight of the Plus Ultra seaplane to Argentina in 1926<\/a>. You can click on the images to enlarge them.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/55438568099_ae17bbbf5c_o.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/55438568099_fc8222e9e1_z.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>In addition to this Spanish aircraft, this \"elephant parade\" included aircraft from other air forces<\/strong>, specifically a KC-30A (Australian designation for the A330 MRTT) from the <strong>RAAF<\/strong>, a KC-3 Voyager (British designation for the A330-243 MRTT) from the <strong>Royal Air Force (RAF)<\/strong>, an A330 MRTT from NATO's Multinational <strong>MRTT Unit (MMU)<\/strong>, and a KC-135R Stratotanker from the <strong>United States Air Force (USAF)<\/strong>. These last three flew to Australia, as did the Spanish A330 MRTT, to participate in the multinational exercise Pitch Black 26.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/55438395961_07e9815089_o.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/55438395961_ec36ab5547_z.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>You can see more photos of this elephant walk here, published by <a href=\"https:\/\/images.airforce.gov.au\/Home\/Search?Query=spanish&Type=Simple\" target=\"_blank\">the RAAF's multimedia portal<\/a>.<\/strong> The aircraft were in this order:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The RAAF KC-30A<\/strong> (A39-006, belonging to No. 33 Squadron, based at Amberley).<\/li>\n<li><strong>The MMU's A330 MRTT<\/strong> (the T-060).
