Yesterday, Cadena SER reported that the National Intelligence Center (CNI) gave \"several warnings\" to the government<\/a> about what was being planned against the city of Ceuta from Morocco. Sources within the Spanish intelligence service told the station that those involved in the planned attack would not have entered Spain if the Ministry of the Interior had taken measures to prevent it.<\/strong><\/p>\n The government preferred to trust Morocco rather than believe the CNI<\/big><\/p>\n This information reflects very poorly on the head of that Ministry. On Saturday, August 1, the Socialist Fernando Grande-Marlaska denied that the National Intelligence Center (CNI) had warned him about what was going to happen<\/a>: \"No, there is no report indicating that a situation like the one that occurred on the 30th could have arisen, obviously<\/strong>.\"<\/em> Another statement he made at that same press conference sheds light on the credibility of this denial by Marlaska: \"Morocco is not a threat to Ceuta or the rest of Spain; it is an absolutely reliable partner<\/strong>.\"<\/em><\/p>\n It is surprising to see that the Minister of the Interior, the person ultimately responsible for maintaining order and security on our streets, denies that Morocco is a threat when Ceuta has just suffered a migrant invasion from that country<\/strong>, an act of hybrid warfare like those Belarus has been launching against Lithuania and Poland<\/a>, but on a much larger scale. Given such an attitude, the logical conclusion is that the government was warned but chose to ignore the warnings<\/strong>, immersed in its erroneous denial of the Moroccan threat.<\/p>\n Marlaska again places the blame on the CNI<\/big><\/p>\n Today, Marlaska reiterated that he received no warning from the CNI<\/a>. He stated this at a press conference in which the minister expressed his \"confidence and appreciation\" for the work of \"all Spanish intelligence services.\"<\/strong> Using a lie to evade responsibility places this government, once again, in a contradiction: he blames the CNI for not issuing a warning and simultaneously expresses its \"confidence\" in it.<\/strong> But what trust can be placed in an intelligence service that fails to warn the government about imminent threats looming over Spain, and specifically about an \"attack on the territorial integrity of a Spanish city\"<\/a>, as Pedro S\u00e1nchez described what happened in Ceuta on Friday?<\/p>\n The government's version regarding the alleged false warnings by the CNI (National Intelligence Center) doesn't hold water.<\/strong> The Spanish intelligence service has had extensive information on Morocco for years. Furthermore, the Civil Guard already warned on July 29th about the entry of a thousand migrants swimming into Ceuta<\/a>, something that broke all records. That morning, a local newspaper reported on the \"massive entry of migrants swimming from Morocco\"<\/a>. Is Marlaska trying to tell us that the CNI doesn't even have access to the information issued by the Civil Guard and published in a newspaper?<\/p>\n The government took more than 12 hours to deploy the Army in Ceuta<\/big><\/p>\n The reality of what happened is that the government did not even act when the invasion became evident<\/strong>, exhibiting an inaction that aggravated the chaos that was being experienced in that Spanish city in North Africa. On Thursday, July 30, at 7:27 a.m., El Faro de Ceuta reported on what was happening in the city<\/a>: \"It's a complete disaster. It's nonstop. During the early hours of Thursday, attempts to swim across to Ceuta have not ceased, to the point that the Civil Guard is completely overwhelmed.<\/strong> Throughout the night and into the day, officers of the Civil Guard have been constantly pulling migrants from the water.\"<\/em> At 11:11 a.m., That newspaper published a video showing a crowd of Moroccans storming Ceuta.<\/p>\n The clearest picture of what was happening came shortly after. At 12:54 PM, El Faro de Ceuta published a video showing thousands of Moroccans storming the border<\/a>. The video has already garnered over 886,000 views on Twitter. Many people reposted it on other accounts and social media platforms. However, after several contradictory messages, the government did not mobilize the army in Ceuta until after 7:00 PM<\/a>, by which time the city had already been enduring a massive assault for at least 12 hours.<\/strong><\/p>\n Officials humiliated and fired to cover up government mismanagement<\/big><\/p>\n What happened in Ceuta demonstrates, once again, the incompetence of a government that is very skilled at propaganda and very clumsy at the day-to-day management of public affairs<\/strong>, as we already saw with the national blackout of April 2025, the railway chaos and the Adamuz accident, and the constant deterioration of the roads. Now the government is washing its hands of the matter and passing the buck to the CNI<\/strong>, and it is doing so after the dismissal of an official from the Department of National Security (DSN) for reporting what was happening in Ceuta became known<\/a>.
