On August 12, 2000, the Russian submarine \"Kursk\" K-141 suffered a catastrophic accident during an exercise in the Barents Sea.<\/p>\n
The lies of Putin's government about the accident<\/big><\/p>\n Following the launch of a torpedo, an explosion occurred, and the submarine suffered an intense fire in its torpedo room, which detonated between five and seven warheads, causing a large explosion<\/strong> that was detected by NATO submarines. As a result of this massive explosion, only 23 of its 118 crew members survived for several hours<\/strong> in compartments 6 and 9 of the submarine.<\/p>\n Vladimir Putin had become president of Russia on May 7, 2000.<\/strong> He was a former KGB officer, the intelligence service of the Soviet dictatorship, and was accustomed to the politics of lies that had sustained that undemocratic regime in power for 74 years. In line with that policy, the Kremlin's first action was to deny the facts, claiming it had been a minor incident and that the crew was still alive.<\/strong> The Russian government even went so far as to say it was in communication with the sailors of the Kursk using Morse code and was supplying air to the ship. Putin was on vacation at a resort in Sochi when the accident occurred and did not leave until five days later.<\/strong><\/p>\n To maintain the lie, the Russian government rejected international assistance offered by the British and Norwegians<\/strong>, who had rescue teams that could have rescued the submarine's survivors within hours. The Kremlin claimed to have rescue submarines capable of carrying out the operation<\/strong>, but in reality, the equipment was obsolete and consistently proved incapable of attaching to the submarine's hatches during training exercises.<\/p>\n Putin's offensive to control independent media<\/big><\/p>\n At that time, Russia still had independent media outlets, and these began to offer information that contradicted the Kremlin's version.<\/strong> The most troublesome moment for the Russian government came when these media outlets showed the protests of the families of the Kursk's crew. Besieged by its own lies, the Russian government launched an even bigger one, claiming that the Kursk had collided with a NATO submarine<\/strong>, a hoax that the Russian Navy and Kremlin propagandists continued to spread for years. It was a way of trying to blame an external enemy for everything that had happened.<\/strong><\/p>\n Finally, after several days, by the time Russia agreed to accept foreign assistance, all the crew members of the Kursk had perished<\/strong>. Faced with criticism both inside and outside Russia, almost two weeks after the accident, Putin directed his fury at the media, accusing them of lying<\/a>. In reality, it was he and his government who had lied<\/strong>, but the Russian leader was employing the same propaganda technique that the Soviet dictatorship had used to deny the Holodomor, the Ukrainian genocide perpetrated by Stalin in the 1930s. It was the same strategy of lies used by the Soviet dictatorship to cover up the Chernobyl nuclear disaster in 1986<\/strong>, until its effects became palpable in several countries and it was no longer possible to hide the truth.<\/strong>Since the Kursk accident, Putin has focused his efforts on eliminating independent media and political opposition in Russia<\/strong>, a country that today is once again a dictatorship, as it was in Soviet times.<\/p>\n The policy of lies of Pedro S\u00e1nchez's government<\/big><\/p>\n It is chilling to review everything related to the Kursk accident and see the similarities with what has been happening in Spain for years<\/strong>. The socialist Pedro S\u00e1nchez came to power through a vote of no confidence in 2018, making the fight against corruption one of his campaign promises. Since 2020, S\u00e1nchez has led coalition governments of socialists and communists<\/strong> (first with Podemos and then with Sumar). Since S\u00e1nchez arrived at La Moncloa Palace, this government has repeatedly resorted to lies as a way to evade its responsibilities on any issue<\/strong>, including tragedies that have cost human lives.<\/p>\n The government's lies about the 2020 pandemic, the 2024 floods, and the 2025 blackout<\/big><\/p>\n Spain has witnessed this policy of lies during the 2020 pandemic<\/strong>, when the S\u00e1nchez government claimed to be basing its decisions on a \"committee of experts\" that did not exist<\/a>, as the Ministry of Health was finally forced to acknowledge after a request from the Transparency Council. In October 2024, history repeated itself with the severe floods in the Spanish Levante<\/strong>, a colossal disaster after which the government took four days to mobilize the Army to help those affected<\/a>, something it did only after a popular television program, \"Horizonte\", showed S\u00e1nchez's abandonment of the thousands of residents in the affected area.<\/p>\n In April 2025, Spain suffered the first nationwide blackout in its history<\/a>, which left several dead and for which there was not a single resignation in the government. A few days later, the government launched a hoax to cover up its responsibility for what happened, inventing sabotage by the \"right\"<\/a>.<\/p>\n The government's lies about the Adamuz accident and the migrant invasion of Ceuta<\/big><\/p>\n In January 2026, this cover-up technique was repeated with the Adamuz train accident<\/strong>, in which 46 people died. The Socialist Minister of Transport, \u00d3scar Puente, dismissed as \"fake news\" reports that were true about defects in track maintenance<\/a>. Finally, in March, the political responsibility of the Ministry of Transport for what happened was confirmed<\/a>, amidst growing railway chaos due to inadequate maintenance, which is causing increasing incidents and delays on Spanish trains. To this day, \u00d3scar Puente has still not resigned and spends his days insulting the opposition and the independent media outlets<\/strong> that exposed his responsibility for that accident.<\/p>\n History has recently repeated itself with the migratory invasion of Ceuta<\/strong>, brought about by S\u00e1nchez's irresponsible policy<\/a> regarding illegal immigration, a policy that has already provoked protests from 22 governments of the European Union<\/a>. This migratory invasion has resulted in 142 deaths<\/a> and a healthcare catastrophe in Ceuta<\/a>, whose residents feel abandoned by the government.<\/p>\n As has happened before, the government lied when it claimed on July 31 that this crisis was over<\/a>, a lie intended to allow S\u00e1nchez to start his vacation on time the following day. The government has also lied about the information it had regarding this migrant influx<\/a>, denying having received any warning. He has also lied about Morocco's role<\/a>, giving in once again to Moroccan blackmail against S\u00e1nchez, a policy of weakness that began with Moroccan spying on S\u00e1nchez's mobile phone in 2021<\/a>.<\/p>\n To cover up Morocco's role and S\u00e1nchez's cowardice, the Spanish government has created a conflict with Italy<\/a>, in an attempt to externalize its responsibility for what happened. Furthermore, the left has launched its propaganda campaign to cover up the government's role in what happened<\/strong>, blaming the United States and Israel<\/a> but avoiding criticizing Morocco, and attacks on the King have already begun from within the government<\/a> after Felipe VI expressed his intention to visit Ceuta and received the president of that autonomous city at the Zarzuela Palace.<\/p>\n The parallels between Putin and S\u00e1nchez<\/big><\/p>\n
