BNG calls the attack on Vox \"democratic firmness\"<\/big><\/p>\n
Following the anti-democratic harassment of Vox yesterday in Santiago de Compostela<\/a>\u2014where far-left thugs prevented a democratic party from holding an event\u2014today the Galician Nationalist Bloc (BNG)<\/strong>, a coalition of far-left separatist parties, openly supported that serious attack against Spain's third-largest party<\/a> (and the fourth-largest in Galicia). In a message posted this afternoon, BNG MP N\u00e9stor Rego stated<\/a> that those who took part in the attack set an \"example of democratic and anti-fascist firmness in the face of the peddlers of hate\"<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n It should be noted that yesterday\u2019s act of harassment against Vox involved the participation of Galiza Nova\u2014the BNG\u2019s youth wing<\/strong>\u2014as seen in this photo published by Vox Europa<\/a>, which shows several agitators from that group holding a banner bearing the slogan \"Spanishists out of our streets\"<\/strong>\u2014an intolerant rallying cry that offers insight into what BNG extremists understand by democracy.<\/p>\n Back in February, the BNG refused to condemn several attacks on PP offices<\/big><\/p>\n Support for attacks against democratic parties is already part of the BNG's tradition in Galicia. In February 2026, the BNG refused to condemn a series of attacks on Partido Popular (PP) offices in Galicia<\/a>, doing so by accusing the PP of \"whining\" and \"playing the victim\"<\/a>\u2014contemptible labels used to mock those who had been attacked.<\/p>\n The BNG is the Galician partner of Bildu, a party that does not condemn ETA terrorism<\/big><\/p>\n The BNG's support for the harassment campaign against Vox yesterday in Santiago is yet another display of extremism and intolerance by the BNG\u2014which has for years been the Galician partner of EH Bildu<\/strong> (the two have run together in European elections<\/a> since 2014<\/a>), a far-left Basque separatist party that has never condemned the 853 murders committed by the terrorist group ETA, including the killings of 22 children and infants.<\/p>\n The BNG refused to condemn the terrorism of RG and Hamas<\/big><\/p>\n Along similar lines, in 2013, the BNG refused to condemn the criminal group Resistencia Galega (RG)<\/a>\u2014declared a terrorist organization by the Supreme Court in 2014<\/a> (which noted that RG \"sought to subvert the Spanish constitutional order\")\u2014following a series of terrorist attacks committed by the group across Galicia. In 2023, the BNG refused to condemn Hamas's terrorism in the Galician Parliament<\/a>, after that criminal group perpetrated the largest terrorist attack suffered by Israel and the greatest antisemitic massacre since the Holocaust. In 2024, the BNG once again refused to condemn Hamas terrorism in the European Parliament.<\/a> It is also worth recalling that for years, the BNG has publicly flaunted its ties to the antisemitic criminal group PFLP<\/a>, which appears on the European Union's list of terrorist organizations.<\/p>\n N\u00e9stor Rego\u2019s UPG and its terrorist past<\/big><\/p>\n Since 2012, N\u00e9stor Rego has been the General Secretary of the Uni\u00f3n do Povo Galego (UPG)<\/a>, a Maoist communist party<\/strong> (one of the most fanatical branches of that totalitarian movement) that has formed the hard core of the BNG for years<\/strong>. During the final months of the Franco regime, the UPG maintained contact with the terrorist group ETA, with whose support it organized an \"Armed Front.\"<\/a> The UPG-ETA pact was dismantled by the police in August 1975<\/strong> following \"several robberies at bank branches and businesses<\/strong> and the discovery of safe houses in Ferrol, Santiago, and Vigo,\"<\/em> as reported by the newspaper La Regi\u00f3n<\/a> (Ourense) on August 21 of that year.<\/p>\n The BNG and the UPG support the Cuban communist dictatorship<\/big><\/p>\n Regarding the peculiar notion of \"democratic steadfastness\" held by these left-wing extremists, it must be noted that both the UPG<\/a> and the BNG support the Cuban communist dictatorship<\/a>\u2014an undemocratic regime that has ruled Cuba since 1959 without free elections<\/strong>, systematically violating human rights and torturing and murdering countless opponents. These are the very people who now refuse to condemn the attacks against the PP and Vox in Galicia. The BNG acts exactly as what it is: an undemocratic organization that seeks to turn Galicia into a dictatorship.<\/strong> It is highly significant that these groups are the PSOE's allies in Galicia and the Galician allies of Pedro S\u00e1nchez's government in the Congress of Deputies.<\/p>\n ---<\/p>\n![](\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/55544753155_40460b68fa_z.jpg\")
