The UN is an organization that was founded with the aim of achieving peace and protecting human rights. What remains of that?<\/p>\n
For years, dozens of dictatorships have been part of that organization.<\/strong> These are regimes that violate the most basic human rights and commit all manner of crimes. Two of those dictatorship, Russia and Communist China<\/strong> (which I refer to as such to distinguish it from free and democratic China, also known as Taiwan), hold permanent seats with veto power on the UN Security Council.<\/strong> This has not changed, even though Russia has been waging a war of aggression against Ukraine for four and a half years, perpetrating all kinds of atrocities.<\/p>\n On Thursday, the NGO UN Watch<\/a>\u2014which has spent years monitoring the work of the United Nations\u2014published highly revealing figures regarding the international body's bias<\/a>, specifically an updated list of condemnations issued by its General Assembly against various countries since 2015. You can view the condemnation figures here in two separate lists: one covering democratic countries and another covering dictatorships and hybrid regimes<\/strong>, categorized according to The Economist's Democracy Index<\/a>:<\/p>\n Democracies:<\/big><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/big><\/p>\n Dictatorships and hybrid regimes:<\/big><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/big><\/p>\n It is outrageous to see that dictatorships such as Communist China, Cuba, Venezuela, and Saudi Arabia have not received a single condemnation from the UN<\/strong>, and that a dictatorship as brutal as North Korea has garnered only 11 condemnations, while the UN General Assembly relentlessly targets Israel with 187 condemnations<\/strong>\u2014a blatant bias that can only be interpreted as the consequence of admitting dozens of openly antisemitic Islamic regimes into the organization. In fact, the General Assembly has issued only one resolution condemning Hamas<\/a>, the bloodthirsty terrorist group that has controlled the Gaza Strip for two decades and that, in 2023, perpetrated the largest antisemitic massacre since the Holocaust.<\/p>\n Over the past year, this has been the list of condemnations issued by the UN General Assembly<\/a> (let us recall that during this time, the Iranian Islamist dictatorship has massacred tens of thousands of Persian citizens for the mere act of demonstrating to demand freedom):<\/p>\n Democracies:<\/big><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/big><\/p>\n Dictatorships and hybrid regimes:<\/big><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/big><\/p>\n Furthermore, UN Watch has pointed out that these five dictatorships are members of the UN Human Rights Council<\/a>: Communist China, Cuba, Iraq, Pakistan, and Qatar<\/strong>. The aforementioned NGO has also published a list showing the number of condemnations issued to date by that Council<\/a>:<\/p>\n Democracies:<\/big><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/big><\/p>\n Dictatorships and hybrid regimes:<\/big><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/big><\/p>\n As we can see, that Council has never issued a single condemnation against dictatorships such as Communist China, Cuba, Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, or Qatar<\/strong>, despite the constant human rights violations occurring in those countries. Furthermore, UN Watch highlights that the Council has never issued even one condemnation against Hamas<\/a>, despite the constant violations it commits in the Gaza Strip and the abominable crimes perpetrated by members of that terrorist group during their 2023 attack on Israel.<\/p>\n ---<\/p>\n
