A march to the site and remains of an airplane crash in the Sierra de Tejeda

On April 29, 2017, at 2:36 p.m., a Socata TB-20 Trinidad single-engine aircraft took off from Muchamiel Aerodrome in Alicante.

The aircraft, carrying three occupants and bearing the German civil registration D-ECJP, was part of a seven-plane convoy traveling from Germany to Morocco. D-ECJP was en route to Granada Airport and, according to Flightsafety.org, disappeared from radar ten minutes before landing. The following day, the wreckage was found on a mountainside at an altitude of 1,718 meters in the Sierra de Tejeda, a remote and difficult-to-access area in the municipality of Canilla de Aceituno (Málaga), in the Axarquía region.

The three occupants of the D-ECJP, all German citizens, died in this tragic accident, including the 60-year-old pilot and his 45-year-old wife. Currently, a wooden cross marks the crash site, where debris from the D-ECJP is still scattered across the mountainside. Yesterday, the YouTube channel Aventuras Entresierras (which I recommend you subscribe to) released a video showing a hike to the site and the wreckage of the plane crash in the Sierra de Tejeda, starting from the El Alcázar Recreational Area in Alcaucín (Málaga).
