The younger readers of this blog didn't live through that era, but in Spain there was a newspaper, Egin, known for its affiliation with ETA.
That newspaper was dedicated to whitewashing terrorists and defaming their victims. One of the most memorable examples of that newspaper's infamous ideological line was the front page that Egin published after the release of José Antonio Ortega Lara, a prison officer who spent 532 years kidnapped by the terrorist group ETA: "Ortega returns to prison", published that pro-ETA newspaper on its front page.
This Wednesday, conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was shot at Utah Valley University in the United States. According to Fox News, Kirk died as a result of the shooting. He was 31 years old, married, and had a son and a daughter.
Some Spanish media outlets have not missed the opportunity to display their nauseating leftist bias in relation to this crime, while Kirk was fighting for his life and was in critical condition. The leftist outlet Eldiario.es has called him an "ultra activist and commentator". Along the same lines, the far-left pamphlet Público has described him as an "ultra activist" (it deleted the shameful adjective from its headline when reporting his death but maintains those words in the URL of the news). The Catalan separatist pamphlet Elnacional.cat has simply described him as "ultra". In turn, La Voz de Galicia has called him an "ultra propagandist" (after announcing his death, has changed the headline after receiving a wave of criticism on social media).
For years, the left has turned the journalistic profession into a form of political activism that devotes much of its time to demonizing all of us who don't play by the left's ideological dogmas. Now they don't even rest from that vile accusation, even with a murdered man. Decades ago, Egin was a disgusting exception in Spanish journalism, an example of what any journalist should not do out of respect for professional ethics and the most basic concept of humanity. Today, Egin seems to have created a school among left-wing activists (previously called journalists) who report on a murder as if the victim deserved it for daring to disagree with their leftist sect.
