There are political positions that are far from casual, as anyone following the news can see.
On September 11, the European Parliament passed a resolution designating the Cartel of the Suns as a txterrorist organization, a Venezuelan criminal organization that, according to the approved text, "provides support, shelter and logistics to Colombia’s armed terrorist groups". As the US government stated in 2020, this criminal organization is led by Nicolás Maduro, the dictator of the socialist regime that governs Venezuela. Coincidentally, the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) voted against that resolution.
Yesterday, at the initiative of Vox, the Joint Committee on the European Union of the Congress of Deputies requested that the Cartel of the Suns be included among the terrorist groups of the European Union, again with the PSOE voting against. The approved text states that the Cartel of the Suns is "a transnational criminal organization of Venezuelan origin" that is directly linked to drug trafficking, human trafficking, extortion, kidnappings, forced disappearances, targeted killings, and other serious forms of organized violence.
In 2020, the UN's International Narcotics Control Board noted that the Cartel of the Suns is involved in drug trafficking: "it has transported large quantities of illicit drugs to Europe and the US from Colombia, passing through Venezuela". This criminal organization is made up of military personnel from the Maduro dictatorship, who use their position in that regime to enrich themselves through illicit activities.
On July 25, 2025, the United States government designated the Cartel of the Suns as a "Specially Designated Global Terrorists (SDGT) entity," noting that it is "a Venezuela-based criminal group led by Nicolás Maduro Moros and other senior officials of the Maduro regime that provides material support to foreign terrorist organizations that threaten the peace and security of the United States, specifically Tren de Aragua and the Sinaloa Cartel."
On August 26, the Vox delegation to the European Parliament noted: "Zapatero has gone from being a former Spanish president to becoming a supporter of the Venezuelan dictatorship, acting publicly as an advisor and close collaborator simultaneously with the dictatorship of Maduro, head of the Cartel of the Suns (a criminal drug trafficking organization), and with the President of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, representing him in negotiations with leaders of other parties, including the fugitive coup leader Puigdemont. While Europe and the US describe Venezuela as a dictatorship involved in organized crime and transnational drug trafficking, Zapatero travels to Caracas and poses as a "mediator", legitimizing a criminal regime internationally." The text added: "For Maduro, the role of Zapatero and his socialist accomplices is political oxygen; for Zapatero, visibility, prominence and a source of income, regardless of whether he whitewashes one of the most wanted narco-dictators, betraying the democratic values of Spain and the European Union."
A few days ago, Vozpópuli reported that "The US is already tracking Zapatero's Chavista ties in its case against the 'narco' Maduro". The news item stated: "If material collaboration of any kind with what the US already considers a "terrorist narco-state" led by Maduro is proven, Zapatero could receive sanctions similar to those already imposed on some businessmen and diplomats in the orbit of Chavismo."
Given these facts, we must ask ourselves: Does the PSOE's corruption go much further than millions of Spaniards believe? What kind of friends does this party have in Venezuela, and why does it protect a criminal organization dedicated to drug trafficking with its votes? Is Pedro Sánchez trying to cover all this up by waving the Palestinian flag?
