On November 2nd, the Catholic Church celebrates All Souls' Day and the Spanish Armed Forces celebrate their Day of the Fallen for the Homeland.
Every nation has a moral duty to remember those who gave their lives for it. In Spain, the memory of the Fallen is very much present in all events held by the Armed Forces. On this day, I wish to pay special tribute to all those who gave their lives in service to Spain, both on the battlefields and in operations abroad, in acts of daily service, and as victims of terrorist attacks. Always in our memory!
Honor demanded and they obeyed,
Duty required it and they complied with it;
With their blood the company was signed
With their efforts they made the country great.They were big and strong, because they were
Faithful to the oath they swore.
That's why they fought like brave men,
And they died like heroes.Dying for the country was his destiny,
Love Spain its eternal passion,
Serve in the Armies his vocation and fate.They did not want to serve another Flag,
They did not want to walk another path,
They didn't know how to live any other way.
This day is especially sad for the Spanish Legion and the Training and Doctrine Command (MADOC). The funeral for Private Daniel Ruiz Mateo, who died in an accident on Friday, was held yesterday in Viator (Almería). He was stationed at the "Álvarez de Sotomayor" Maneuver and Firing Range Command in Viator. During this ceremony, he was posthumously awarded the Cross of Military Merit with Yellow Distinction (photos: Ejército de Tierra).

Below I share some of the events commemorating the Day of Remembrance for the Fallen for the Homeland. Every year I keep an eye on what the Armed Forces publish to share the tributes organized for this day. Unfortunately, at the time of writing, very few photos of these events had been released.
