The General Command of the Balearic Islands blocks 'Defensa y Aviación' on Twitter

In Spain, some things are happening in relation to social networks that are difficult to understand in a democratic country.

Todos los días reviso las cuentas de Twitter de las Fuerzas Armadas de España, a fin de ver qué han publicado. Con frecuencia comparto algunas de sus publicaciones. Otras me sirven como fuente de información para Defensa y Aviación. Hoy me he encontrado con una desagradable sorpresa: la cuenta @COMGEBAL_ET, que es el canal oficial de la Comandancia General de Baleares del Ejército de Tierra, ha bloqueado la cuenta de Twitter de Defensa y Aviación. Bajo estas líneas podéis ver la captura que he hecho con mi móvil mostrando este bloqueo.

Every day I check the Twitter accounts of the Spanish Armed Forces to see what they've posted. I often share some of their posts. Others serve as a source of information for Defense and Aviation. Today I came across an unpleasant surprise: the account @COMGEBAL_ET, which is the official channel of the Balearic Islands General Command of the Army, has blocked the Defensa y AviaciónTwitter account. Below you can see the screenshot I took with my phone showing this blocking.

With theDefensa y Aviación account, I follow all the official channels of the Spanish Armed Forces, both the main ones and those of different units. I've been posting about Defense and Aviation for almost 14 years, and this is the first time this has happened to me. The strangest thing is that, as anyone can verify, I have never written a tweet mentioning the COMGEBAL account; I have only retweeted what they occasionally post. Therefore, they cannot claim that I have been disrespectful to that account.

My surprise was even greater when I discovered that COMGEBAL has also blocked my personal account, @elentirvigo. This indicates to me that this is not a mere coincidence and that we are facing a possible politically motivated block.

This is intolerable to me. I am a Spanish citizen and I have my rights, which include access to government information channels on social media, channels that I help to support with my taxes. I demand an explanation for this block and its immediate removal, as it is an illegal block, since it violates Law 39/2015 on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations, whose Article 12.1 states:

"Public Administrations must guarantee that interested parties can interact with the Administration through electronic means, for which they will make available the necessary access channels as well as the systems and applications that are determined in each case."

That same law, in its Article 13, guarantees the right of all citizens to "access to public information, files and records, in accordance with the provisions of Law 19/2013, of December 9, on transparency, access to public information and good governance and the rest of the Legal System". I hope to hear soon from COMGEBAL regarding the lifting of this blockage and if they do not rectify it, I will consider reporting these events to the Justice system, as it constitutes a violation of my rights as a Spanish citizen.

+ UPDATED 24.3.26 18:06h: COMGEBAL has lifted the block on the Defensa y Aviación Twitter account. It did so without giving any explanation. My personal account, @elentirvigo, remains blocked.
