This aircraft made its first flight on November 29, 1974, and entered service in 1978 with the United States Army. Still in production, more than 5,000 units of this excellent helicopter have been built. It is currently used by 37 different nations, although we could say 38, since communist China copied it (the local copy is the Harbin Z-20). Its largest operator is the United States Army, with more than 2,100 units acquired in various versions.

Currently, the most numerous variant in the United States Army is the UH-60M, with over 900 units acquired. Production of this variant began in 2006 to replace older models, which today, in many cases, are finding a second life as modernized aircraft in both the civilian and military markets. The UH-60M incorporates improved blades on its main rotor, a glass cockpit (which facilitates the pilots' work by providing information on large digital displays), and an IVHMS (Integrated Vehicle Health Management System) computer that uses hundreds of sensors to constantly monitor the aircraft's condition, even predicting potential failures.

The UH-60 has earned a great reputation for its combat endurance. It has flown in various conflicts, becoming a very valuable asset due to the wide variety of missions it can perform. This Saturday, YouTuber Louis Skupien and the California National Guard released a video showing the inside of a UH-60M Black Hawk, both on the ground and in flight. The video specifically shows one of the aircraft from the 1st Assault Helicopter Battalion of the 140th Aviation Regiment (1-140 AHB), part of the 40th Infantry Division, attached to the California National Guard. These aircraft operate from the Army Airfield at Los Alamitos:
