The US Marine Corps (USMC) is the largest marine corps in the world. Its staff exceeds that of the armed forces of countries such as the United Kingdom, Germany or Spain.

The material means of the Marines are also enormous: the USMC has more than 1,300 aircraft of various types (including Harrier II, F/A-18 Hornet and the more modern F-35B Lightning II fighter-bombers) and tens of thousands of vehicles (for example, the Cortps has more than 19,000 Humvees, more than 400 M-1 Abrams tanks and more than 1,300 AAV-7 amphibious armored vehicles, among other models). In addition, the USMC operates from a total of six aircraft carriers with amphibious capacity or LHD (one of the Americas class and five of the Tarawa class) and twenty amphibious ships operated by the US Navy.
