The Maragato of the Cathedral of Astorga

The original statue, of 1642 and currently exposed in the Provincial Museum of Zamora, was replaced by this replica in 1987. A legend says that during the Spanish War of Independence, the Napoleonic troops fired on the statue, thinking it was a lookout, and failing to hit and do not even upset at the shootings, fear invaded the French because they believed was a sample of value. The statue is equipped with a weather vane and a lightning rod.

El nombre es Pedro Mato, no Pedro Mota.
