The Vigo Estuary is a place of enormous beauty, where sunsets and twilights are pure visual poetry throughout the year.
In Vigo, the wind usually blows from the northwest. That is why the city has a mild climate all year round: summers that are not too hot and winters that are not too cold. However, today the wind is blowing from the east and it is warmer than usual for this time of September.
That wind is bringing us the smoke from the terrible wave of fires that Portugal is suffering: 65 active fires in the north and center of the country and already 7 dead at this time.
This morning, Vigo has woken up with the horizon full of smoke. It has been dissipating somewhat throughout the day, but the nightfall leaves a rather sad image. These two photos were taken from Monte del Castro today at 21:26, and show the cloud of smoke from the fires in Portugal reaching the Cíes Islands. A sad twilight, although not as sad as the images that the fires in Portugal are leaving:

This video was posted yesterday by @laisidoro on Twitter. The images were taken early Monday morning in the town of Albergaria-a-Velha, in the district of Aveiro, one of the areas most affected by these fires. Two hours ago, Nahel Belgherze published this other video which shows satellite images of the fires in Portugal taken by NASA:

My prayers for Portugal. I hope our sister country will soon win this battle against the fire. Força Portugal! 🇵🇹💪🇪🇸
