The program of military events for October 12, 2024, National Day of Spain

Next Saturday, October 12, Spain celebrates its National Day, also known as Hispanicity Day.

On the occasion of this holiday, the Armed Forces hold events in different parts of Spain, such as parades, solemn flag raising ceremonies, concerts, open days and exhibitions. As in previous years, in the Defensa y Aviación Agenda (in Spanish, click here) you can consult some of the events planned for the coming days (the agenda is constantly updated).

In addition, the Ministry of Defense has published more events on the official website of the National Holiday, including some activities planned in other countries where Spain has military contingents.

The main event of the National Day will be held in Madrid on October 12, with a military parade. The Ministry of Defense has published this Youtube player in which you can watch the live broadcast of the parade on October 12 from 11:00 CET:

The parade in Madrid will take place along Paseo del Prado and Paseo de Recoletos. The parade will start at the main entrance to the Botanical Garden and will end at Plaza de Colón. The event will consist of the following parts:

• Arrival of Their Majesties the King and Queen.
• Military Honors to Their Majesties the King and Queen.
• Parachute exhibition jump by the Air Force Acrobatic Parachute Patrol (PAPEA).
• Raising the National Flag.
• Tribute to those who gave their lives for Spain.
• Passage of the Air Force Eagle Patrol.
• Air parade.
• Land parade.
• Farewell to Their Majesties the King and the Queen
• Lowering of the National Flag.

4,092 members of the Armed Forces (3,619 men and 473 women), 117 vehicles, 49 motorcycles, 210 horses and 85 aircraft (56 planes and 29 helicopters) will take part in the parade.
