Russian forces launched a missile attack on a residential building in the city of Poltava, in eastern Ukraine's Poltava Oblast, on Saturday morning. The attack partially destroyed the five-storey building, leaving people trapped in the rubble. Rescue efforts are still ongoing.

At 18:48 CET, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine announced that 7 people have been killed in the attack and 17 others have been injured. Among the injured are 4 children, aged 3 months, 2, 8 and 12 years. So far, emergency services have managed to rescue 22 people from the destroyed building.

Poltava no ha sido la única ciudada ucraniana atacada por los rusos este sábado. El presidente de Ucrania, Volodímir Zelenski, ha comunicado:

Damage has also been reported in Zaporizhzhia, as well as in the Odesa, Sumy, Kharkiv, Khmelnytskyi, and Kyiv regions. As of now, six people are confirmed wounded. In Kharkiv, one person was killed by a strike drone. In the Sumy region, this Russian attack claimed two more lives. My condolences to their families and loved ones.

Every such act of terror proves that we need greater support in defending against Russian terror. Every air defense system, every interceptor missile, means a life saved. It is crucial that our partners take action, fulfill our agreements, and increase pressure on Russia.

Since the start of the large-scale Russian aggression against Ukraine on February 24, 2022, Russian forces have been systematically attacking the Ukrainian civilian population, targeting residential buildings, hospitals, churches, schools, kindergartens and shopping malls. While this is going on, Russia remains a member of the UN Security Council and many Western countries still maintain diplomatic relations with this criminal regime. It is time to start changing this situation.
