It is true that a mafia rules in Spain: the next step is to isolate that mafia in Brussels

The demonstration was called under the slogan "Mafia or democracy", to denounce the scandals of the socialist mafia that have come to light in recent weeks. It must be acknowledged that this event was a great success in terms of public attendance, although it is a shame that the PP did not want to propose a united protest with the third most voted party, Vox, and with civil society organizations.

Personally, I celebrate the PP's open acknowledgment that a mafia governs Spain, because that is true and even evident in light of the dirty war unleashed by the Socialist Party against the Civil Guard, the judges, and the media investigating socialist corruption cases. But since the PP is the most voted party in Spain, we can expect more from it once that truth is proclaimed today in a massive demonstration.

To begin with, the PP must break all agreements it has with that socialist mafia in Spanish institutions, in addition to refusing to attend any institutional meeting with Pedro Sánchez, such as the conference of presidents held this week.

It is not enough to recognize that Spain is governed by a mafia: we must act accordingly and avoid any gesture or action that serves to legitimize that mafia. The same can be said about the parties that support that mafia in power, from the far left to separatists. From a democratic point of view, it is a moral duty to isolate that mafia and its accomplices. Obviously, this forces the PP to try to seek support outside the circle of that mafia and its accomplices. The PP must build bridges with Vox, based on mutual respect, to consolidate a unity of democratic action against that mafia.

Obviously, the above is of no use if the PP does not act in the same way in the European institutions. It must be remembered that Pedro Sánchez is currently the president of the Socialist International. Despite the fact that his attacks on the rule of law in Spain were already public and notorious at the time, the European People's Party (EPP) renewed its alliance with the Socialists in Brussels in July 2024, an alliance that has been in place for decades.

It is inconsistent for the PP to call the Socialist Party a "mafia" in Madrid while governing with it in Brussels. This inconsistency only serves to prevent many Spaniards from seriously believing the PP's accusations about the abusive behavior of the Sánchez government. The Spanish PP must break all agreements with this socialist mafia in Brussels now, putting pressure on its partners in the EPP to end these pacts and form a new majority with the right-wing parties. Only in this way can we begin to isolate this socialist mafia from the outside, highlighting the democratic abnormality that Spain is experiencing and forcing other European countries to take a stand on the matter.
