Lord, make me an instrument of your peace!
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is offense, let me sow forgiveness;
Where there is discord, let me sow unity;
Where there is error, let me sow truth;
Where there is doubt, let me sow faith;
Where there is despair, let me sow hope;
Where there is darkness, let me sow light;
Where there is sadness, let me sow joy.Oh, Master, may I not seek so much
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
It is in self-forgetting that we find;
And it is in dying to ourselves that we are born to eternal life.
This is the Franciscan prayer for peace. This week we read it as a family to say goodbye to my Father, minutes after God took him to His side. He died peacefully, surrounded by his family, one day after receiving the anointing of the sick from a priest and after a life in which he always showed himself to be an excellent person and a Father of whom I am very proud. Thank you for your life, Dad.
I ask you all to pray for his eternal rest.
