Today is a happy day in Israel: after two years of kidnapping, the last living hostages held by Hamas have been released.
In total, 20 live hostages have finally returned to Israel after 738 days of horror. The freed Laotian hostages show noticeable physical deterioration and are living proof of the crimes of Hamas, the terrorist organization that started this war with its attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, a criminal group that is solely responsible for the destruction of much of Gaza as a result of that war that began with that attack from Gaza against Israel.
While we wait for this terrorist organization to also hand over the bodies of the dead hostages, today we can say that Hamas has been militarily defeated. For two years, this Islamist criminal organization has blocked peace in the Middle East with this long hostage-taking that comes to an end today. It is a happy day in Israel, but in Europe we have serious cause for concern, after everything we have seen during these two years of war in the Middle East.
During this time, Europe has been swept by a wave of antisemitism unprecedented since Nazism. The main promoters of this campaign of hatred against the Jews have been two: Islamism, which has infiltrated Europe through mass immigration of Muslim origin and which has thrived thanks to the incomprehensible tolerance of many European leaders towards this violent fanaticism, and the extreme left, a strategic ally of Islamism in its hatred of the West, which has spread a hoax accusing Israel of "genocide" while refusing to condemn the atrocious crimes of Hamas against Jewish men, women and children.
Some governments, such as that of Pedro Sánchez in Spain, have ended up joining this antisemitic campaign and this hoax against Israel, receiving praise from Hamas terrorists and effectively acting as puppets of that terrorist organization in its propaganda strategy. The Spanish still have not realized the consequences of having the most antisemitic government in Europe, a government that feels comfortable with Hamas's allies (especially Turkey) while at the same time disdains and slanders the only real democracy in the Middle East after suffering the worst terrorist attack in its history and the worst antisemitic massacre since the Holocaust.
Spain is becoming a pariah in Europe because of that government, and that always ends up affecting a country's economy. So far this year, foreign investment in Spain has plummeted by 60%. What sensible investor would want to put money into a country whose government has proven to be a puppet of Hamas and that has openly encouraged violence in Spain to fuel antisemitism and cover up their corruption scandals?
On the other hand, in these two years we have also been able to see that the majority of the European media give more credibility to a terrorist organization than to a democratic country, simply accepting all the lies and poisonings of Hamas while quarantining any information coming from the Israeli government.
We've already received plenty of evidence that we have a left-leaning media landscape, in which conservatives are constantly demonized for not adhering to socialist dogma, but now we also know that it's also leaning towards Islamism and that it is submissive to the crudest propaganda of an antisemitic criminal organization. This didn't even happen at this level during the rise of Nazism. Do we realize what it means for our freedoms to have a majority of media outlets that swallow any lie from terrorists?
Definitely, Israel has reasons for joy and hope today, but in Europe we should be very concerned about the very serious problem we have at home. A problem that some have not even been able to understand yet.
