As I've mentioned in several articles, I believe artificial intelligence can bring many positive things to society. Like other technological advances, AI offers many advantages if used properly. I regularly use it to generate some of the images on the blog (for example, the one in this article), always indicating its source at the end of the article, when I include the image credits. It's also a very useful tool for searching. In fact, it's used by almost all internet search engines today.

Unfortunately, some people are abusing AI, just as other new technologies have been abused before, and this leads to problems that must be addressed. One of these problems is generating texts with AI without indicating their origin and passing them off as one's own. This bothers me particularly, as I dedicate a great deal of precious time to writing my articles, time that could be spent on other things. This is a space for meeting and debate among human beings, and I want it to remain so.

Of course, I think it's fine for someone to generate text with AI to write an argument, as long as they indicate its source, just as I think it's fine to cite other authors' texts while citing their origin. I believe we must distinguish between good and bad practices with AI. Just as with plagiarism, the problem with AI arises when you pass off other people's texts as your own.

This afternoon I found myself in a situation I'd never encountered before. In just a few minutes, a user posted seven lengthy comments on a blog post expressing their opinion. I have some experience with new technologies, and I immediately realized that those comments were generated by AI, but without any attribution. This feels like a rip-off, both to me and to the other readers and commenters on the blog.

Therefore, I have added point 9 to the blog's rules of participation regarding artificial intelligence: "AI-generated comments are not allowed. If AI-generated text is included in a comment, the source must be cited. User accounts that violate this rule may be suspended. This is a space for discussion between human beings."

Finally, I want to remind you: AI can make mistakes and sometimes has clear biases. Very often, these errors and biases stem from its programming, the information sources it uses, or how users pose a question. I find it absurd to see people appealing to artificial intelligence as if it were a source of divine wisdom, believing that everything an AI says can be flawless.
