Sánchez will spend 271 million on propaganda in 2026 while degrading our trains

In Spain we have reason to say, without fear of exaggeration, that we are being governed in a purely criminal manner.

The Council of Ministers approved the "2026 Institutional Advertising and Communication Plan of the General State Administration" this Tuesday. The full text of the plan, published by the government itself, can be read here. This plan is divided into two main parts: €155.60 million for 124 institutional campaigns and €115.07 million for 49 commercial campaigns. An expenditure of almost 271 million euros, practically equal to the expenditure on the same item in 2025. Thus, according to The Objective, the total amount spent on propaganda since Sánchez came to power will reach 2.308 billion euros.

What we are witnessing in Spain is an absolutely obscene use of all citizens' money, employed by the government to whitewash its image and buy the favor of the media (or at least try to) while our railway network suffers terrible degradation due to government incompetence, a negligent way of using public funds that is typical of authoritarian regimes and that has already caused 46 deaths in recent days: the 45 deaths in the Adamuz accident, which occurred on January 18 in the province of Córdoba, and the train driver killed in the Gélida accident, which occurred on January 20 in Barcelona.

We are not witnessing mere waste, which would already be highly reprehensible. Those 2.308 billion euros spent by this government on propaganda are a theft from all Spaniards, a theft intended to whitewash the disastrous management of a coalition government of socialists (PSOE) and communists (Sumar) that has degraded public services to the point that we can no longer even travel safely by train.

This new squandering of public money on propaganda comes, moreover, while ALS patients continue to wait for the aid promised years ago by the government, aid they need to be able to live with dignity without jeopardizing all their families' savings. Families who also pay the taxes that Sánchez squanders on propaganda to try to get re-elected in the next general elections, in which the PSOE is doing worse and worse because of its corruption scandals and the bloody consequences of the mismanagement of a government that only cares about its own political survival and doesn't give a damn about the enormous damage it is doing to Spain and the Spanish people.
