The Socialist Minister of Transport, Óscar Puente, seems unable to let a single day go by without displaying his bad manners.
With his characteristic verbal incontinence, this morning Puente published a regrettable message on Twitter fueling a pitiful rivalry between cities and showing disrespect to Madrid, regarding the visit of Leo XIV to the Spanish capital, stating: "What we have seen these days is that Barcelona is still the city of the magical 1992 Olympics. Creativity, good taste, precision… and Madrid the city of the Relaxing Cup of café con leche in the Plaza Mayor. Almeida and Ayuso, worthy heirs of Botella." Here you can read his message:
Lo que hemos visto estos días es que Barcelona sigue siendo la de las olimpiadas mágicas del 92. Creatividad, buen gusto, precisión…y Madrid la del Relaxing Cup of cafe con leche en la plaza mayor. Almeida y Ayuso dignos herederos de la Botella.

Both Madrid and Barcelona have given the Pope a warm welcome, but Puente has not wanted to miss the opportunity to generate hatred and confrontation between the two cities, a purpose driven exclusively by political reasons, since the socialists govern in Barcelona and the Popular Party in Madrid.
Puente's attitude contrasts with that of Isabel Díaz Ayuso, who yesterday commented on the beautiful visual spectacle of the Sagrada Familia Basilica in Barcelona with a message that said: "How beautiful!" One may agree or disagree with Ayuso's party, the PP (I disagree with many things she does), but with her message the president of Madrid showed a desire for concord that fits with the calls made these days by the Pope.
On the contrary, Óscar Puente continues to exhibit the worst of the most despicable politics: that which is determined to instigate confrontations between Spaniards, an attitude that we have seen many times in the Catalan separatists and to which is now added a minister of Spain whose salary is paid, among others, by millions of Madrid residents.
As usual, those who exhibit the most verbal incontinence are the ones who should be most silent. It's worth remembering that just a few months ago, 46 people died in a serious train accident in Adamuz, a tragedy about which Puente lied to cover up his political responsibility for what happened, amidst a railway chaos largely due to his disastrous management. By now Puente should have resigned or been dismissed, and instead he continues, as minister, to sow hatred on social media.
