What that minister and her party are basically doing is telling us citizens that it's better not to give us a voice because the socialists know better than we do what we need. Centuries ago, someone coined the expression "enlightened despotism" to define this way of conceiving politics, but seeing the mediocrity of many PSOE leaders and their constant lack of education, perhaps it would be more appropriate to call this illiterate despotism.

At this point, the PSOE's constant appeals to "the people"—a populism as cheap as it is false (these are politicians whose salaries are far above average and who refuse to give up their luxurious lifestyles at our expense) — clash with the fact, for example, that the PSOE has been disabling comments on all its Twitter posts for over a year now, because it was receiving such a huge amount of criticism that the party leadership (i.e., Sánchez) decided it was better for "the people" not to have an opinion. We already have the socialist leaders to speak for us.

A party that lost the last elections (I say this because some PSOE leaders always speak as if they had won), that governs after having committed all kinds of atrocities in exchange for the votes of the far left and the separatists (including those who continue to refuse to condemn the hundreds of murders perpetrated by the terrorist group ETA), a government that today has lost its parliamentary majority (this week Congress and the Senate have called for Sánchez's resignation, something that had not happened in almost half a century of democracy in Spain), that is rotten with political corruption and that shields itself from the opinions of Spaniards as if they were The plague, by denying them the right to comment on and respond to each of their messages on a major social network, has no legitimacy to continue governing Spain. Their cynical talk of "the people" will not grant them that legitimacy; it only confirms their utter shamelessness.
