A beautiful sunset at Castle of El Castro in Vigo, with some winged guests

I could cite many reasons for being a photography enthusiast. One of the main ones is that I live in Galicia, specifically in Vigo.

I always say that Galicia is like paradise—a land of stunning natural wealth and landscapes that leave you speechless. And some of Galicia's finest scenery can be found right here in the Vigo Estuary. This past Friday, September 11, I visited one of the most beautiful spots in my city: the Castle of El Castro, perched on a hill in the center of Vigo. Specifically, I was in the inner enclosure, photographing the sunset and twilight from the Saliente de Coya (which I wrote about here a year ago).

There was a group of young people taking photos at the viewpoint (one of the best and most popular in Vigo), but we were also visited by half a dozen mallards (Anas platyrhynchos, both males and females). They usually hang out at the duck pond near one of the castle gates, but at dusk, they fly over to the pond located within the fortress's inner enclosure.

You can view a selection of 16 of the photos I took here. All the images were captured in the castle's inner enclosure, except for the last one, which is from a viewpoint in the second enclosure. None of the images have been retouched; I’ve published them exactly as I shot them with my DSLR camera. I’ve arranged them here in the order they were taken.
