'Heart of the Beast', a commentary on this survival film

This Friday sees the arrival of a very interesting new release in the adventure genre—specifically, the survival subgenre.

"Heart of the Beast" (released in Spain as "En el corazón de la bestia" and in Hispanic America as "El corazón de la bestia") is a film starring Brad Pitt as James Belmont, a retired Sergeant Major from the U.S. Army Special Forces—the famous "Green Berets." In this feature film, the famous American actor shares the spotlight with Odin, a combat dog suffering the lingering effects of severe war injuries.

The film is set in the state of Alaska, undoubtedly one of the wildest and most fascinating territories in the United States. Director David Ayer (who also helmed 2014’s *Fury*, starring Brad Pitt) expertly captures the state’s breathtaking landscapes as well as the harsh reality of survival in areas far removed from civilization—places where nature reveals both its stunning beauty and its fierce power. Jared Michael Fry composed the score, which provides a varied and effective accompaniment to the action.

Brad Pitt and Odin made an excellent starring duo, although, to be fair, the role of the combat dog was actually played by four different dogs: Uber, Seeka, Ryker, and Hondo. I absolutely loved the movie. I think it will especially appeal to my friends at Aventuras Entresierras and, in general, to all mountain lovers and survival enthusiasts. I highly recommend it.
