Russia attacks a medical school and the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine

The Kremlin continues its daily attacks on civilian targets in Ukraine—attacks that constitute war crimes.

One of the attacks carried out by Russia today against civilian targets with no military value struck the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, a scientific institution founded on November 27, 1918. At 2:54 PM CET, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (DSNS) reported a Russian attack in Kyiv's Shevchenkivskyi district, noting that a building belonging to the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine had been hit. One person was killed and seven were injured. The DSNS has released this video of the fire caused by the Russian attack:

In the images, we see the headquarters of the aforementioned Academy, located at 54 Volodymyrska Street. In this other video posted by Spravdi, we can see Academy personnel fleeing the flames through the windows of this building:

Additionally, Russia also attacked the Dobrobut Academy in Kyiv today—a private medical college located at 40 Antonovycha Street. As a result of the Russian attack on this medical facility, the roof of a nearby four-story residential building also caught fire. The DSNS released this video of the targeted building at 16:18 CET, noting that three people were injured:

The Dobrobut Academy in Kyiv is located directly opposite the Constitutional Court of Ukraine (the two buildings are separated by a distance of less than 40 meters). It is an area of ​​the city with no military targets. It is worth noting that this is not the first time Russia has targeted scientific and academic institutions in Ukraine. In fact, the Dobrobut Academy was previously attacked by Russian forces on August 28, 2025. This afternoon, Visegrad 24 released another video showing today's attack on the medical institution:

These have not been the only Russian attacks on civilian targets today. The DSNS has released this video of a Russian attack on a residential building in Kharkiv, in northeastern Ukraine, noting that 43 people were injured, including 11 children:

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on these attacks with this message: "Russia will definitely face a response to this. And every one of Ukraine’s partners must see from this terror, from these strikes, that supporting Ukraine means truly supporting people’s lives – supporting the principle that terror must never be normalized, anywhere. Russia must be held accountable for all of this and face real consequences."
