Ecuador, on the western coast of South America, is a fascinating country with highly varied landscapes and indescribable natural wealth.
The Andes mountain range runs through the middle of the country from north to south, leaving the lowlands—washed by the Pacific Ocean—to the west, while the Amazon plain stretches out like a green mantle toward the direction where Ecuadorians see the sun rise each day. The northern half of the Ecuadorian Andes is dotted with volcanoes. The country is home to nine volcanoes exceeding 5,000 meters in height; the tallest among them, Chimborazo, rises to 6,263 meters above sea level and is the point on Earth's surface farthest from its center.
Last November, filmmaker and adventurer Harmen Hoek traveled to Ecuador to climb the country's three highest volcanoes: Cayambe (5,790 m), Cotopaxi (5,897 m), and the aforementioned Chimborazo. "After the climbs, I continued exploring Ecuador to discover more of the country's incredible diversity. From the Laguna Quilotoa crater lake and the waterfalls of Baños to climbing Tungurahua solo and visiting the Amazon rainforest near Tena and the Napo River. This film brings together all those experiences into a single journey through some of the most beautiful and diverse landscapes Ecuador has to offer," the creator notes. The film is truly spectacular:
You can see some images from this fabulous video here as a preview. The video is a masterpiece that dwells on small details and showcases nature in all its splendor. Congratulations to the creator; I loved it.
