Pedro Sánchez has triggered a 'song festival' that points toward his defeat on November 29th

One of the common consequences when a ship begins to sink is that those on board try to reach safety by any means possible.

November 29: the last chance to prevent Spain from ceasing to be a democracy

The Collapse of Socialism in Spain

Pedro Sánchez’s government is currently like a ship taking on a significant amount of water. Almost all electoral polls point to a major debacle for the Left in the general elections on November 29th. I say "almost" because the exception is the Center for Sociological Research (CIS)—a state institution controlled by the government—which has consistently overstated the results for the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) without ever bothering to correct this blatant bias, which amounts to clear-cut propaganda.

We can already see the effects of this all-but-certain collapse of the Spanish Left. By deciding to call an early general election—a move forced by corruption scandals and a clumsy, desperate attempt to pin the PSOE’s potential recovery on the issue of housing (an area where the government has done nothing for eight years)—Pedro Sánchez has triggered a "song festival" that is proving to be quite entertaining. In this festival, there are no famous artists performing hit songs, nor are there aging rockers belting out classics from the past. Instead, the people who are "singing" here are those who have decided to abandon a sinking ship.

The Revelations of Isabel Pardo de Vera

In the last few hours, we have seen two clear examples of people "singing" (speaking out). Isabel Pardo de Vera—who served as Secretary of State for Transport between 2021 and 2023, having previously been president of ADIF since 2018, and who is currently under investigation in the "Koldo case" (one of the Socialist Party’s corruption scandals)—has begun to reveal the warnings she received regarding "untouchable" high-ranking officials, as well as the pressure she faced to grant favors to individuals aligned with the PSOE. Her confessions shed light on the murky web that the Socialists have woven within public institutions.

Civil Guard’s DAO implicates Marlaska and Mercedes González

Furthermore, the Deputy Operational Director (DAO) of the Civil Guard—who was indicted in July for several offenses (prevarication, membership in or cooperation with a criminal organization, obstruction of justice, professional disloyalty, and disclosure of secrets) in connection with a Socialist-linked scheme aimed at "neutralizing" judicial cases for the "benefit of the PSOE and the Prime Minister’s inner circle"—has today implicated the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, and the Director of the Civil Guard, the Socialist Mercedes González Fernández, during testimony given as part of that judicial proceeding.

Leaks regarding Moroccan incursions into Spanish waters

It is hardly surprising that some individuals implicated in these Socialist scandals are beginning to "sing" [spill the beans]. This is one of the consequences of the PSOE’s collapse—regardless of how much the CIS [Sociological Research Centre] might try to deny it. These individuals see that Sánchez has little time left in power and that his shadowy networks are on the verge of collapse; they have no desire to be buried under the rubble of socialism’s downfall in Spain. It must be noted that we have already seen such instances of people "singing," and we will surely see more. Another example can be found in the reports that have come to light regarding Moroccan naval incursions into Ceuta—incursions concealed by Sánchez, which were by no means "isolated incidents," as he claims (just today, news emerged of yet another incursion that took place in September, which the government also kept hidden).

There are public officials—including members of the Armed Forces—who have spent eight years enduring this Socialist clique, watching helplessly as they engaged in abuses and underhanded schemes, all the while waiting for the day when the opportunity to see them fall might finally arrive. That day is already marked on the calendar: Sánchez himself set it when he called for early general elections. For this reason, we will surely see more and more leaks regarding the government’s dirty maneuvers and the things it did or concealed. Previously, officials might have been bound by a "dictatorship of silence" for fear of retaliation—but that is changing, because this "mafia" has very little time left in power. For those of us who have been denouncing socialist corruption in Spain, this "song festival" sounds like heavenly music. Let’s hope that more and more "singers" join the repertoire.
