This afternoon, the far left engaged in another display of violence in La Coruña with the aim of preventing a Vox event.
During this act of coercion against a democratic party, far-left extremists gathered in the Plaza de María Pita. The situation escalated from verbal abuse directed at officers from the National Police’s Intervention Unit (UIP) to physical assaults, as can be seen in this video released by the program "En boca de todos" on the channel Cuatro:

Left-wing extremists stormed a restaurant in that square and began throwing its chairs at the police, as we can see in this other video from "En boca de todos":

Left-wing extremists also threw stones at the police, as we can see in this other video from the same program:

Jusapol, the largest union within the National Police, has released this video showing left-wing radicals punching a UIP officer, who had to be assisted by his colleagues:
Hay políticos que hoy están justificando esto…
Desde JUPOL queremos enviar TODO NUESTRO APOYO a nuestros compañeros de la #UIP que hoy han trabajado en La Coruña. 💪👮♂️
Reiteramos nuestra petición de dimisión de Pedro Blanco, delegado del Gobierno en Galicia. Lo ocurrido podría… pic.twitter.com/B30LAnSWME

According to La Voz de Galicia, twelve police officers were injured, and two left-wing extremists were arrested. Televisión de Galicia reported this afternoon that the two individuals arrested already had prior criminal records.
Jusapol has published these photos, sent by officers from the UIP (Police Intervention Unit) in La Coruña, which show, first of all, the cobblestones thrown by far-left extremists at the police officers.
In these other two photos from Jusapol, we can see the injury sustained by a police officer who was attacked by far-left radicals today in La Coruña.
In these other three photos, we can see acts of vandalism and attacks by rioters against police vehicles earlier today in La Coruña.
Jusapol has also shared this image of a bollard from the square that was torn up by far-left extremists to be thrown at the Police.
Jusapol added: "We cannot fathom how the Government Delegate, Pedro Blanco, could have authorized a demonstration by radicals aimed at disrupting a political event, thereby placing public order and citizen safety at serious risk. This has compromised not only the physical well-being of our colleagues in the National Police’s UIP (Police Intervention Unit), but also that of all the citizens present in the square—both those attending the event and those simply passing through. This is a matter of extreme gravity. Public safety cannot be made subordinate to political interests, nor should it be used to fuel social confrontation."
As of the time of writing, the Government Delegation in Galicia and its delegate, the Socialist Pedro Blanco Lobeiras, have yet to issue any statement condemning these serious acts of violence or expressing support for the injured police officers. This is truly extraordinary and reveals an alarming attitude on the part of the delegate regarding far-left violence directed at the police.
For the time being, the Spanish Police Confederation (CEP) and the Unified Police Union (SUP) have already called for the resignation of the Government Delegate in Galicia. The SUP has demanded that "it be disclosed who authorized a gathering of violent radical groups just meters away from a political party's event."
Naturally, I offer my full support to the injured police officers and their colleagues, who today defended freedom and democracy in La Coruña against those who attack the fundamental rights of others—specifically, freedom of expression and ideological freedom. Assaulting police officers, as those extremists did today in La Coruña, must not go unpunished. The full weight of the law must be brought to bear upon these violent individuals and the organizations that orchestrated this act of harassment against a legal, democratic political party.
