Keychains with the red "Remove before flight" ribbon have become very popular among aviation aficionados.
However, some people may not know what these tapes are for on airplanes. To resolve possible doubts, the Spanish Ministry of Defense has published an interesting video in which Sergeant González de la Mata, of the Spanish Air Force and who works as a launch mechanic (those in charge of reviewing the planes before takeoff) at Wing 15 (based in Zaragoza and equipped with EF-18 Hornet fighters), explains the purpose of these tapes and what is done with them once they are removed from the plane (the video is in Spanish, you can activate the automatic subtitles in English in the bottom bar of the player):
