Amid a wave of socialist corruption, the left approves censorship of journalists

Yesterday, the left launched a new attack on Article 20 of the Spanish Constitution, which protects freedom of information, in Congress.

Article 20 protects the right to "freely express and disseminate thoughts, ideas and opinions by word of mouth, writing or any other means of reproduction" and to "freely communicate or receive truthful information by any means of dissemination." Point 2 of the Article warns: "The exercise of these rights cannot be restricted by any form of prior censorship". Considering the fact that six Spanish parties (all of them left-wing) support dictatorships, including the two governing parties (PSOE and Sumar), it seems that they have decided to imitate the authoritarian regimes they support.

In May, I already indicated here that the left and its separatist partners are promoting a reform to censor inconvenient journalists, a joint initiative whose promoters include the two aforementioned government parties (PSOE and Sumar) and also Euskal Herria Bildu, a party that refuses to condemn the crimes of the terrorist group ETA, including the murders of two journalists: José María Portell Manso, director of the Bilbao newspaper Hoja del Lunes (shot dead in Bilbao on June 28, 1978), and José Luis López de la Calle, a columnist for the newspaper El Mundo and founder of the Ermua Forum (shot dead in Andoáin on May 7, 2000).

Yesterday, that reform took a step further with the rejection of the two amendments to the entirety of that reform, amendments presented by the Popular Party and Vox. Both were rejected with 166 votes in favor and 174 against. Thus, possibly within a few weeks, any journalist who asks questions that are uncomfortable for the left could be censored and lose their accreditation to report from Congress, since the Bureau of that chamber is controlled by the socialists of the PSOE and their partners, the communists of Sumar.

What happened yesterday is yet another corruption scandal. As I pointed out here a few weeks ago, corruption is not just about a politician stealing public funds. Above all, political corruption is the abuse of power granted by the people to illicitly obtain personal or partisan benefits. Violating the constitutional right to freedom of information to prevent journalists from asking uncomfortable questions of left-wing parties is a clear case of corruption that, coincidentally, benefits a government that is cornered by the socialist corruption scandals that were brought to light by various media outlets and are now being investigated by judges.

At the height of shamelessness, yesterday the parliamentary spokesman for the PSOE, Patxi López, called the journalists he intends to censor "fascists". In case anyone has forgotten this, fascism was a totalitarian regime that, among other things, violated freedom of information, just as the Spanish left is doing now to silence journalists who ask uncomfortable questions. What the left is doing in Spain is fascism, but disguised as "anti-fascism" to make it seem less bad. Once again it is proven that if socialists and communists want to see something very similar to a fascist, they only need a mirror.
