To verify the truthfulness of a person's words, the key test is to see whether their behavior matches their statements.
Let's look at the case of the Sumud Global Flotilla, whose aims could be summed up as trying to convince us that the population of Gaza is starving and that they are suffering genocide. A few months ago I pointed out here that the alleged "genocide" in Gaza is a hoax, and recently I also indicated that the far left launched this hoax when there were more deaths in Israel than in Gaza.
Denouncing an alleged 'genocide' with a hippie-style party
But assuming the far left cares very little about the facts, they could at least take a little care with the propaganda they make to convince us that this hoax is true. Among the images that the flotilla's own protagonists have circulated about it we have seen music and dancing and some typical scenes from a pleasure cruise, but in a hippie way. This is the most striking thing about this flotilla: How can we believe those who denounce an alleged "genocide" with a hippie-style party? It is the first time that those denouncing such a serious crime make a joke of their own accusations. If it were true that the Israelis are committing a deliberate extermination of the population of Gaza, which is absolutely false, what face would the victims have seeing these party scenes?
Let's imagine for a moment something like this about a real genocide like the Holocaust, in which 6 million Jews were murdered by the Nazis, who happened to have the support of the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, the highest authority of the Muslim Arabs of Palestine. What would many Holocaust survivors have said if someone had thrown a party to denounce it while their people were brutally murdered? And we could also give another more recent example of genocidal crimes: the atrocities committed by Hamas against more than a thousand Jews in its desire to exterminate that people, an intention reflected in the founding charter of Hamas. I have not seen anyone throwing a party to denounce those crimes, because that would have been disrespectful to the victims.
Supposed aid to a starving village that takes more than a month to arrive
But the false accusations of "genocide" against Israel are not the only characteristic of this flotilla that demonstrates its inconsistency. If they truly believed that the people of Gaza were starving, would they have chartered dozens of boats with little cargo capacity? We have seen that many of these boats are pleasure yachts or small craft that can at most carry supplies for their occupants for a few weeks. But what's more, the flotilla set sail from Barcelona on August 31, arriving yesterday near Gaza. They have been on the road for over a month, coming and going due to bad weather, stopping over for several days in some places and showing that they were in no hurry.
Throwing food into the sea instead of unloading it in Israel or Cyprus
As if that weren't enough, in the last few hours we have seen a member of that flotilla throwing cans of food and medicine into the sea, supposedly so that the current will carry them to their recipients. This is not serious. Israel offered to unload this aid in Israel or Cyprus, since Gaza is a war zone and there are no ports there to unload, but the members of the flotilla ignored this offer. This leads us to conclude that this was not a "humanitarian" flotilla, but a ridiculous propaganda operation that was not intended to help the people of Gaza. If that had been their true intention, they would have done everything possible to get food and medicine to Gaza as quickly as possible. That has not been the case.
A ridiculous propaganda operation by the far left and Islamism
The true objective of this flotilla has become very clear: to demonize Israel and favor the narrative of Hamas, the terrorist organization that perpetrated the massacre that started this war. The flotilla is, in fact, another example of the alliance between the far left and Islamism, who coincide in their hatred of Israel and the West. For these two political movements, the civilian population of Gaza is a simple pawn that is used in a vile way, placing their lives and well-being in the background, behind that main objective, which is to try to convince us that the only democratic country in the Middle East, the country that suffered the Hamas attack in 2023, is to blame for this war and not the Palestinian terrorists.
In this sense, it can be concluded that this flotilla is not only a farce, but a perverse propaganda campaign to favor the criminals who caused this war. These impostors have the peace of mind of having been arrested by a democratic country with an independent judiciary, and not by the dictatorships that exist in the rest of the region. They know this and that is why they allow themselves the luxury of these antics. If something like this were done on the coasts of Iran against the Islamist dictatorship in Tehran, the result would be much worse, but the extreme left never denounces the crimes of that dictatorship, which in fact has supported the radical left in the West for years.
