Hoaxes that are serving to whitewash Hamas terrorists

The facts and data that refute the false accusations of 'genocide' against Israel

Politicians, activists, and media outlets, mostly left-wing, are promoting a colossal hoax against Israel.

Who has committed crimes of genocide, Israel or Hamas? What the facts indicate
Hundreds of jurists from 22 nations accuse Hamas of crimes of genocide against Israel

Hamas has openly advocated genocide against the Jews.

This hoax consists of accusing the only Jewish state of committing "genocide" in Gaza, an accusation based on the false death toll spread by the terrorist organization Hamas, the Islamist and antisemitic group that started this war on October 7, 2023, with the largest massacre suffered by the Jewish people since the Holocaust, a massacre in which unarmed civilians - including children and babies - were tortured, raped, and murdered, some of them burned alive in their own homes. In addition, Hamas kidnapped hundreds of people, some of whom are still being held by the terrorists.

First, it is striking to see that the same people who accuse Israel of "genocide" never direct that accusation at Hamas, whose founding charter calls for the killing of all Jews, which is a clearly genocidal purpose under Article 6 of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court. Let us recall that already in October 2023, shortly after that massacre perpetrated by the Islamist and antisemitic organization, hundreds of jurists from 22 nations accused Hamas of crimes of genocide.

The Rome Statute and the characteristics of genocide

It should be remembered that, according to the aforementioned Article 6 of the Rome Statute, for a crime to be classified as genocide, there must be "intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group." This intent can exist regardless of the number of victims. For example, In the Srebrenica massacre, the Army of the Republika Srpska killed 8,372 people and the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia labeled the events as "genocide", claiming:

The gravity of genocide is reflected in the stringent requirements which must be satisfied before this conviction is imposed. These requirements – the demanding proof of specific intent and the showing that the group was targeted for destruction in its entirety or in substantial part – guard against a danger that convictions for this crime will be imposed lightly. Where these requirements are satisfied, however, the law must not shy away from referring to the crime committed by its proper name. By seeking to eliminate a part of the Bosnian Muslims, the Bosnian Serb forces committed genocide. They targeted for extinction the forty thousand Bosnian Muslims living in Srebrenica, a group which was emblematic of the Bosnian Muslims in general.

Will the Allies of World War II also be accused of 'genocide'?

There have been wars with far higher casualties than the Srebrenica Massacre. For example, according to W. van Mourik (Bilanz des Krieges, Ed. Lekturama, Rotterdam, 1978), Germany suffered 3.64 million civilian casualties in World War II, many of them due to Allied bombing and artillery fire against the civilian population. In turn, according to the same source, the United Kingdom suffered 60,000, France 98,000, and Belgium 50,000, many of them due to German bombing. However, no one with a minimum of seriousness would think of accusing the Allies of "genocide", a crime for which only high-ranking officials of Hitler's dictatorship were convicted in that war.

Data indicating that Israel does not want to exterminate the population of Gaza

However, based solely on the false death toll spread by Hamas, some make this false accusation against Israel, ignoring the key elements of the crime of genocide, starting with its intentionality. If anything can be said about the Jewish state, it is that the Israeli military is acting with more caution than the Allies in World War II:

  • Providing humanitarian corridors to evacuate the civilian population from Gaza (corridors that Hamas has systematically sabotaged).
  • Warning residents of attacked areas to evacuate before launching their attacks, something no other army in the entire history of humanity has done, as it endangers its own soldiers by making such warnings. In the first year of this war alone, the Israel Defense Forces made 100,000 evacuation phone calls, dropped some 9.3 million evacuation leaflets, and sent 15.5 million text messages and 17 million voice recordings calling for evacuation.
  • Facilitated entry and provided humanitarian aid to Gaza, with 12,197 trucks with 257,530 tons of food, 2,885 trucks with 41,470 tons of shelter equipment, 1,420 trucks with 28,320 tons of water, 461 tankers with cooking gas, and 225 tankers with fuel in the first year of the war alone.
  • Providing medical assistance to the civilians of Gaza, the same civilians who two years ago celebrated the massacre perpetrated by Hamas against Israel: 6 active field hospitals and 1,717 trucks with 19,950 tons of medical equipment in just the first year of the war.

There are more Arabs in Israel than Jews in all Islamic countries combined

In case anyone still insists on sustaining this false accusation of genocide against Israel, it should be remembered that the Palestinians of Gaza are Arabs. In fact, the Arabs of the former British Mandate of Palestine did not call themselves "Palestinians" (that was the name given to the Jews living in that territory), but rather called themselves "Arabs."

According to data from the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Israel has 9,842,000 inhabitants, of which 2,080,000 are Arabs (21.1%). As I already indicated here, within the Israeli Arabs, 82.6% are Sunni Muslims, 9% are Druze and 9% They are Christians. There is a fact that I already mentioned a month ago, and that is that there are more Muslims in Israel than Jews in all Muslim-majority countries combined, which says a lot about the tolerance and religious freedom that exists in the State of Israel. There have been no Jews in Gaza for 20 years. They were unilaterally evacuated by the Israeli government.

In Israel, Arabs have more freedoms than in Islamic countries

It is important to remember that Arabs in Israel enjoy freedoms and rights that they do not even have in Islamic countries, since Israel is a democracy (in which Arabs have their own representatives in the national Parliament), while most Islamic countries are authoritarian regimes. Under these conditions, accusing Israel of "genocide" is not only untrue, but also displays a clear ignorance or bad faith that takes advantage of the lack of understanding many people in the West have about what life is like in a democratic country like Israel.

Of course, if Israel wanted to commit genocide in Gaza, it has the enormous military power to do so, but it hasn't. Hamas's own false death toll reveals the scale of the lie: Gaza had 645,576 inhabitants in 2021. In a territory with a very high population density (14,346.13 inhabitants per square kilometer), if Israel wanted to commit genocide, there would already be many more deaths than Hamas reports. What the people of Israel have wanted since the founding of their state is to live in peace with their neighbors, but as soon as they declared their independence, their Arab neighbors attacked Israel, and they attacked the Jewish state again on subsequent occasions, losing every war they started. Israel cannot even afford to lose a war, because that would mean its demise.

The antisemitic Hamas massacre did show genocidal characteristics

Thus, there is no indication that Israel is committing crimes of genocide. On the contrary, the massacre of October 7, 2023 by Hamas did display genocidal characteristics, since it was perpetrated by an organization that has publicly set out to exterminate the Jews (although it lacks the means to carry out that purpose, this does not prevent the act from being classified as a crime of genocide), since in that massacre it indiscriminately and in cold blood murdered defenseless civilians, deaths that cannot be attributed to collateral casualties in a war. In fact, it was Hamas that unleashed this war with that brutal massacre, and now what Israel is seeking is something legitimate for a country under attack: to free the people kidnapped by Hamas, capture the perpetrators of those crimes, put an end to Hamas and prevent Islamist terrorism from repeating an atrocity like that.

Hamas's responsibility for civilian casualties in Gaza

The dead and wounded in the war in Gaza (even if it were 100, it would already be a terrible figure) are the consequence of having a terrorist organization that uses its civilian population as human shields, prohibiting them from evacuating the attacked areas, stealing humanitarian aid that arrives from abroad and firing rockets from residential areas, which is a war crime, in addition to turning these areas into legitimate military targets according to International Humanitarian Law. Added to this is the fact that Hamas terrorists wear civilian clothing and count their dead as civilians, thus inflating their false statistics.

In fact, those false accusations of "genocide" against Israel have so far served to benefit Hamas, as the terrorist organization does not care about the suffering of Gaza's civilians: that is why it prohibits them from following the Israel Defense Forces' evacuation instructions. Hamas has its tunnels beneath residential areas of Gaza and hides kidnapped people there, forcing the Israeli army to search house by house, a form of urban warfare that always results in high casualties among both the combatants and the civilian population. Hamas planned this war in such a way that it demonstrates it has no concern for the lives of Gaza's civilians.

False accusations motivated by antisemitism

Considering all the data presented, it is a huge indecency that this criminal strategy of Hamas is supported with false accusations against a democratic country, a country that some demand very strict criteria when waging war, criteria that have never been required of any other country that has suffered an attack and that the Allies did not comply with in World War II, because if they had done so we would surely have the flag with the swastika still waving in several European countries.

Some people's viciousness toward Israel and their false accusations of "genocide" have only one reason: it is the only Jewish state. That's why we don't hear similar accusations against Russia from these same politicians, activists, and media outlets, despite all the atrocities Russia is committing in Ukraine. Nor have they made these accusations against Turkey for its bombings of the Kurds in Syria and Iraq, nor against the Islamist terrorists who cause constant massacres of Christians in Nigeria, nor against the Chinese communist dictatorship for the Uyghur genocide. At this point, it is difficult to hide the fact that the different standard that some impose on Israel is driven by antisemitism, once promoted by the Nazis and now fostered by the left and Islamists.
