Repugnant xenophobia against Venezuelan refugees from the leftist channel La Sexta

The fact that Venezuelan citizens exiled in Spain have celebrated the fall of the dictator has infuriated some far-left activists, including Antonio Maestre, a contributor to the La Sexta channel. Yesterday, the website of that media outlet published an infamous article by Maestre with serious insults against Venezuelan refugees in Spain, whom this lunatic calls "idiotsassholes, "fascist worms", "ungrateful scum", "gang of fascists" and "anti-democratic fifth column" for the mere fact that he did not like the opinions of some of them "while they celebrated the kidnapping of Nicolás Maduro by American imperialism."

This isn't the first time that guy has written things like this. In 2018, he replied to a Venezuelan saying: "I hope Venezuelans are denied asylum and deported," simply because that Venezuelan encouraged him to move to his country to see the effects of the Maduro dictatorship's socialist policies. In 2024, Maestre rejected the idea of ​​granting asylum in Spain to Edmundo González, the winner of the Venezuelan elections, stating: "Giving asylum to Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia is legitimizing the worst of the international far right."

The Spanish left has spent years accusing anyone who criticizes illegal immigration of "xenophobia," and now it openly displays clear xenophobia against citizens who have had to flee a socialist dictatorship, simply because that dictatorship has the blessings of a large part of the Spanish left.

Seeing Maestre's repugnant article, one has to wonder: Will the Public Prosecutor's Office act on its own initiative against this guy? We've already seen the Public Prosecutor's Office act on its own initiative in other cases simply to prosecute messages against illegal immigration, as happened in Madrid against a Vox poster in 2021, a poster that didn't contain any insults. Not acting now would send the message that if you're on the left, you have free rein to insult refugees of a certain nationality, simply because you don't like a socialist dictatorship that has been murdering, torturing, raping, and robbing the Venezuelan people for years. And all this, of course, with the blessing of the Spanish left.

The article about Maestre is yet another example that there is nothing more like a fascist than a left-wing fanatic. The far left shares many ideological vices with the fascism it claims to hate: authoritarianism, support for dictatorships, antisemitism, intolerance of differing opinions, a penchant for censorship, the use of violence, and now also xenophobia. Once again, it is clear that fascism and the far left are not enemies: they are competitors striving to demonstrate which of the two is capable of sinking lower in its contempt for freedom and democracy.
