When there is an orange alert on the Galician coast, I don't usually go near the sea, because I like it a lot but I have a lot of respect for it.
Last Saturday, January 31st, Galicia experienced an orange alert at sea but no alerts on land. The sun seemed to break through the clouds, and the rain gave us a respite after weeks of storms. It's the perfect day to go out and see the sea, but without getting too close. I recorded these images in Panjón, Playa América, and Patos, in Nigrán (Pontevedra):
An hour before high tide, the sea had already reached the wall of the Panjón promenade. Under normal conditions, the high tide line is several meters away. As you can see, the water reached the sidewalk of the promenade. Always remember to be very careful if you go to the coast on a day like this. When it's rough, the sea has a habit of taking the lives of those who get too close.
