Journalist David Alandete aptly describes a minister known for his bad manners

In Spain, Pedro Sánchez's government has become an example of what no democratic government should be.

One example of this government's poor conduct is its systematic attacks on journalists who are critical of it, attacks that in some cases reach purely despicable extremes, as we saw two years ago when the Minister of Transport, the socialist Óscar Puente, called a young journalist a "bag of shit", demonstrating this politician's poor manners and his disastrous understanding of the role of government members in a democratic society, to which they are called upon to set an example. A role that the Sánchez government replaces with displays of arrogance and intolerance of criticism.

Yesterday, Óscar Puente launched a new attack on a journalist, David Alandete, referencing a comment in which he denounced the attacks and insults of certain ministers against journalists. "Now say it without crying, Alandete," the minister wrote, in yet another display of his well-known bad manners.

The journalist, who is known for always maintaining proper manners even with those who behave rudely, responded to the minister by announcing his "display of baseness, ignorance, bad manners, and absolute moral poverty," adding: "In his case, all of these apply, along with his oversight of one of the deadliest train accidents in our history," a reference to Puente's political responsibility for the Adamuz train accident, with 46 dead, a very serious fact for which that minister should have already resigned or been dismissed months ago.

Alandete added: "You are living proof of the intellectual ruin of a political system that, devoid of ideas and scruples, uses attacks on the press as an excuse to hide its own mediocrity." A very good description of someone who seems to be trying to earn the title of rudest minister in Europe. Unfortunately for the minister, who has blocked half the country to prevent many of us citizens who pay his salary from criticizing him on Twitter, Alandete's response is getting much more attention and support than the minister's attack. A well-deserved recognition from many internet users for a journalist who does his job well, in contrast to a minister who is simply embarrassing.
