The President of the Commission is thinking more about her personal interests than about the Union

Von der Leyen's indifference to Sánchez's eagerness to destroy the EU borders

The government of Pedro Sánchez is undertaking scandalous measures that seriously endanger Spanish society.

Pedro Sánchez adds a migration bomb to his scorched earth policy in Spain
Von der Leyen's re-election, good news for Sánchez and bad news for Spain

On the one hand, Sánchez has launched an extraordinary regularization program for undocumented immigrants which has already reached 1.2 million applicants, doubling the initial forecasts, which estimated that between 500,000 and 700,000 people would take advantage of this process. This is a migratory surge that will also affect the European Union, since Spain is one of the signatory countries of the Schengen Agreement, whose members abolished border controls between them. Two weeks ago, this regularization caused tensions with other European governments, who have already denounced that what Sánchez is doing also affects other European countries.

As if that weren't enough, the massive fraud of the Grandchildren Law, used by the Spanish government to obtain new voters in the face of the fall of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) in the electoral polls, has already received 2.4 million applications for nationality and has added 600,000 new voters to the 2027 electoral register, including many citizens of non-EU countries who have never lived in Spain or any other EU country, but who will now be able to obtain a Spanish passport and move freely throughout Europe, which creates another problem for EU member states in addition to the one caused by Sánchez with the mass regularization of illegal immigrants.

Sánchez's controversial measures are threatening to destroy the European Union's external borders, the protection of which costs member states enormous sums of money. The Socialist leader is not only threatening to provoke a social conflict in Spain by granting papers en masse to undocumented immigrants through procedures that open the door to all kinds of fraud, but also a political conflict, since his fraudulent use of the Grandchildren Law is clearly aimed at manipulating the electoral register to fraudulently win the next general election. Furthermore, these irresponsible measures by the Spanish government jeopardize the Schengen Agreement itself, whose viability relies heavily on signatory countries acting responsibly on immigration so as not to harm one another.

In contrast to Sánchez's inflammatory behavior, the inaction of Ursula von der Leyen, the current President of the European Commission, is particularly scandalous. She has already adopted a complicit attitude toward the Spanish leftist government on far too many occasions, allowing it things it would not tolerate in other countries. Von der Leyen is allied with the socialists in Brussels, and that explains her complicit silence regarding Sánchez. The German centrist politician, a member of the European People's Party (EPP), knows that if she distances herself from Sánchez, she could lose the support of the socialists and, with it, her position. Like the Spanish socialist leader, who displays a blatant disregard for the common good, Von der Leyen is putting her personal interests above the interests of the Union. Someone like that should not remain in office for even one more day. Europe must be led by someone who does not act as a puppet of the most unscrupulous and immoral politician in Europe.
