The content of the agreement between the PP and Vox in Andalusia and the scorpion problem

This week, the Popular Party (PP) and Vox have signed a government agreement in Andalusia for the next four years.

The text of the agreement can be consulted here (PDF). It is a 60-page document that includes many measures and with which Vox has managed to get the PP to accept a considerable part of its program. The text includes things that I find very positive, such as what we can read in point 36:

"Promotion of awareness campaigns and support for motherhood and life as a social good, thus ensuring that the culture of life is reflected in the policies carried out by the Junta de Andalucía."

There are also measures in favor of educational freedom, such as the one listed in point 72:

"Progressive agreement on Baccalaureate in Andalusia. Progress will be made in the agreement of Baccalaureate units in Andalusia, prioritizing Special Education and Vocational Training, and freedom of choice of school will be guaranteed."

I also particularly liked the mention of terrorism and the memory of its victims, with a concrete measure to prevent the horror experienced by thousands of Spaniards from falling into oblivion, as we can read in point 71:

"History of terrorism in Spain. The history of terrorism in Spain will be included in the curriculum, with the aim of raising awareness among our students about terrorism, developing democratic values ​​and honoring the memory and dignity of the victims."

To be honest, reading this agreement makes the anger of the left that we are seeing these days understandable, because if only half of what was agreed were fulfilled, the socialist ideological project would be seriously damaged in Andalusia, with a change that would show that another way of doing politics is possible, with measures that benefit society beyond ideological trenches.

I believe it's necessary to emphasize this. Issues such as freedom of education, the fight against illegal squatting, tax cuts, and deductions for the birth or adoption of children (point 3) are cross-cutting. With their eagerness to trample on our rights, our well-being, and our future, the left tries to make us believe that defending things that are common sense is something dangerous fascists do, but it's a lie that fools fewer and fewer people, because too many are already suffering the consequences of the socialists' mismanagement.

Obviously, and as the title suggests, there are reasons for concern. I wish I could say that this agreement is something that should give us hope, that the PP seems to have changed, and that we will finally have something to be happy about.

Three years ago, I already recalled the fable of the frog and the scorpion here. The story tells of a scorpion who asks a frog to help him cross a river. The frog is reluctant, because she knows the scorpion's nature, and refuses, for fear that the arthropod will sting and kill her. The scorpion dissuades the frog and finally convinces her by saying that it would be absurd for him to kill her, since they would both drown in the river. Finally, when they are both crossing the river, the scorpion stings the frog with his poisonous stinger. She asks him why he did that and tells him that now they will both drown, and the scorpion apologizes, telling her that it is in his nature to do that, that he doesn't know any other way to act.

In Galicia, we've had a PP government for 17 years that promised linguistic freedom in 2009 if we gave them our vote. I was foolish enough to believe them and voted for them. A few months after the elections, they betrayed their promise. To this day, they still haven't fulfilled it. The PP has been acting like a scorpion of Spanish politics for many years. I understand that Vox has no other option but to form a coalition with Feijóo's party because the alternative would be even worse, but Santiago Abascal's party should be vigilant from day one with its Andalusian partners, because I have no doubt whatsoever that the PP has no intention of fulfilling even a tenth of what was agreed upon.

I would love to be wrong, but the weight of experience is already too much to ignore. In short, the left has reason to be angry, and we have reason to be vigilant.
