The joy over the victory of the Spanish national team in the 2026 World Cup last Sunday has been felt in many countries.

Yesterday we saw images here of the deployment of eleven Spanish Air Force aircraft to Australia, an Expeditionary Air Group made up of 6 Eurofighters from Wing 14, 1 Eurofighter from Wing 46, 2 A400Ms from Wing 31, and 2 A330 MRTTs from Wing 45. The Spanish pilots who make up this group have taken their passion for the Spanish national football team to that distant country. On Sunday morning, hours before the World Cup final, the Spanish Air Force published this video of Spanish pilots in Australia cheering on their team:

This Tuesday, July 21, the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) held a press conference at RAAF Base Darwin in the Northern Territory to announce details of an air show taking place this Thursday, July 23, in Darwin with participants in Exercise Pitch Black 26, which is the reason for the deployment of the Spanish contingent to the country. The press conference was attended by Air Commodore Michael Gray of the Royal Australian Air Force and Lieutenant Daniel Díaz Guerra, a Eurofighter pilot from the 14th Wing of the Spanish Air Force.

As you can see in the video, Lieutenant Díaz Guerra was wearing a Spanish national football team jersey under his flight suit, in honor of the team that won the 2026 World Cup final last Sunday. He even showed it off during the press conference, as you can see here. Commodore Gray referred to Spain's status as world champions, as a nod to their Spanish allies.

The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) has announced that the aforementioned air show will take place over Mindil Beach. It will begin on Thursday, July 23, at 5:00 p.m. local time and will end around 6:30 p.m. If you live far away, you can watch it live on the RAAF's YouTube channel. This display will feature two Eurofighter Typhoons and an A330 MRTT multi-role aircraft from the Spanish Air Force, as well as aircraft from other countries participating in the exercise. You can see the exhibition map above.

You can see more photos of this press conference published today by the RAAF on their multimedia portal. In them we see Lieutenant Daniel Díaz Guerra with RAAF Commodore Michael Gray, along with several of the Spanish Eurofighters (I can make out up to five, including the C.16-78 14-78 and the C.16-50 14-50) and one of the two A400M tanker aircraft from Wing 31 that have flown to Australia.
