Pedro Sánchez's betrayal of Ukraine to appease Putin's puppets in Catalonia

The Spanish Prime Minister, the socialist Pedro Sánchez, continues to display his absolute lack of scruples to the world.

This Saturday, his government leaked to the Europa Press news agency that Sánchez will not accept the admission of new countries to the European Union until it gives in to his linguistic blackmail to make three Spanish regional languages ​​(Galician, Basque, and Catalan) official EU languages, even though they are not even official languages ​​throughout Spain. It is one of the demands of the Catalan separatists of ERC and Junts to support Sánchez's re-election, a demand that Sánchez is treating as if it were a matter of utmost priority for Spain, generating rejection and anger in other European countries, all to please the whims of his Hispanophobic allies.

Let us remember that one of the countries awaiting its next admission to the EU is Ukraine, a nation that has been fighting against the Russian invaders for four and a half years with admirable heroism. Sánchez says he supports Ukraine, but his government has not stopped doing favors for Putin's dictatorship, such as the massive purchases of Russian gas and oil (in this case through Morocco to circumvent European sanctions against Russia) and also the erasure of the traces of Russian interference in Spain in 2017, interference that It consisted of the Kremlin offering military and economic aid to Catalan separatism to break the unity of Spain and thus weaken one of the member countries of the EU and NATO.

The erasure of that Russian interference by the Sánchez government included an amnesty for Carles Puigdemont, leader of Junts, so that he could not be tried for treason for his contacts with the Kremlin in connection with the 2017 separatist coup in Catalonia. These contacts even generated criticism within the Catalan separatist movement, as they damaged its international image. As I already pointed out here in July, the socialist sewers even maneuvered to torpedo the judicial investigation of those contacts between Junts and Russia, since that investigation jeopardized Sánchez's parliamentary support.

The EU's enlargement process to include new countries would entail the national languages ​​of the new members also becoming official languages ​​of the Union. The government has leaked the following to Europa Press: "It is not possible for Spain to accept new official languages ​​if the official status of Catalan, Basque, and Galician has not been approved beforehand." It's worth remembering that a single EU member state only needs to veto the accession of new members for it not to take place. Thus, Sánchez is stabbing Ukraine in the back in the midst of the Russian invasion to appease Putin's Catalan puppets. This is truly nauseating and demonstrates, once again, that the Spanish socialist leader is a politician without morals and whose only priority is guaranteeing his hold on power at any cost.
