Today its ruins still cause fascination, because they evoke how great and beautiful that city was, with great palaces, temples and monuments, and also its spectacular engineering works, including the twelve aqueducts that supplied water to this city. The passage of time, looting, wars and natural disasters have left us today a mere shadow of what Rome was.

A few months ago, History in 3D published an interesting video reconstructing Rome as it was in 360 AD, 20 years before Emperor Theodosius I the Great (347-395) made Christianity the official religion of the Empire. The polychrome statues and the gold decorations on many buildings are striking, especially the temples:
