The Spanish Army's deployments abroad are a common opportunity to test the weapons of allied armies.

This is the case of the Spanish contingent deployed in Slovakia, in which Spanish soldiers from the Parachute Brigade "Almogávares" VI (BRIPAC) share a brigade with soldiers from the Czech Army, having the opportunity to test their light weapons.

Yesterday, NATO Multinational Battlegroup in Slovakia published a series of photos showing a joint shooting exercise between Czech and Spanish soldiers, exchanging weapons. You can see the photos of that exercise here.

During the exercise, Spanish soldiers were able to test the new CZ P-10C pistols of the Czech Army. This is a weapon selected in 2020. Inspired by the Glock 19, its purpose is to replace the CZ 75 SP-01 Phantom pistols.

The P-10C is a very lightweight pistol in 9x19mm Parabellum, although it is also available in .40 S&W. It is made of polymer and fiberglass. The Parabellum version has a 15-round magazine and weighs only 740 grams.

In addition to the aforementioned pistol, Spanish soldiers were also able to test the new Czech CZ 805 BREN 2 assault rifle, introduced in 2020 to replace the aging CZ 805 BREN. The BREN 2 is chambered in 5.56 × 45 mm NATO and has a 277 mm long barrel. It is also available in 7.62 × 39 mm caliber. It is a modular weapon, and the barrel can be changed to a shorter 207 mm one. It has a magazine of 30 rounds.

The BREN 2 is very well regarded. It is a lighter rifle than its predecessor and, like the Polish MSBS Grot rifle, it is an ambidextrous weapon, so that the rate of fire selector, bolt catch, charging handle and magazine catch are usable by right- and left-handed soldiers with either hand. In June 2024, Česká Zbrojovka Uherský Brod (CZ) launched the BREN 3 on the market, which includes improvements compared to its predecessor.
