Going to school is an everyday activity that millions of children around the world do. An activity that can be very routine.

However, in some countries, many children travel long distances every day to get to school, and some of these routes would be worthy of a movie. This was the case of a now abandoned elementary school deep in the mountains of Wakayama Prefecture, Japan.

A few months ago, the YouTube channel Tokyo Lens Explore published an interesting book showing this school, which is still in very good condition (such a place in the West would already be vandalized). In addition, the author of the video walked the path that led to the school, through a long tunnel and over a 62-meter-long suspension bridge:

Here we can see some screenshots from the video. This is the abandoned school. There is not a single graffiti on it, nor is there a single broken window. You can tell it is in Japan.

To avoid a mountain, children went to school through this long, damp tunnel. Japanese horror movie makers would do wonders with something like this.

Before the tunnel (which we see in the background), the children had to cross this suspension bridge, situated six metres above a river. In this place, the children definitely had to be like Indiana Jones' apprentices.

On the other side of the bridge, the houses of the village seem abandoned, but everything is in good condition, with no signs of vandalism.
