The UN's complicity with the Hamas terrorist group in Gaza is once again the subject of controversy with a new revelation.

This Wednesday at 3:48 CET, the official Twitter channel of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported: "Former hostages Romi, Emily, and Doron were held in United Nations shelters in Gaza, which were meant for civilians. The UN refuses to condemn Hamas for hiding hostages in civilian spaces."

In its message, the Israeli Foreign Ministry links to a report broadcast yesterday by the Israeli television channel 13TV which states the following: "Two days after being released from Hamas captivity, after 471 days in captivity, Rumi Gonen, Emily Demari and Doron Steinbracher begin to recount today (Tuesday) what they experienced, the conditions of their captivity, as well as the places where they were held in the Gaza Strip by Hamas terrorists since they were kidnapped on October 7."

The Israeli channel adds: "Conversations with the returnees show that during their time in Hamas captivity, they were hidden for part of the time in UN shelters, in the camps intended for the civilian population that the UN established during the war and which are supposed to be areas where people stay and are provided with food and water. The terrorists took advantage of the UN camps to house the hostages there, knowing that the IDF would not attack the compound, thus also providing themselves with security."

Since the attack perpetrated by Hamas terrorists against Israel on October 7, 2023, in which 1,200 people were killed and more than 200 were kidnapped, the involvement of officials from UNRWA, the UN agency for Gaza, in that attack has been revealed. Shortly after these events, the NGO UN Watch also denounced that UN officials celebrated this Hamas terrorist attack against Israel. Following these revelations, the US State Department announced a year ago that it was suspending its donations to UNRWA.

On the other hand, on October 24, 2023, UN Secretary-General António Guterres justified Hamas's attacks against Israel by stating that "did not happen in a vacuum. The Palestinian people have been subjected to 56 years of suffocating occupation.", adopting the terrorists' discourse to justify their crimes. One wonders whether Guterres was aware of the fact that people kidnapped by Hamas were held in UN facilities. Let us remember that with these and other actions, Hamas has committed war crimes, using civilians as human shields. It is extremely serious to know that these crimes, moreover, were committed with the complicity of the UN.
