Spanish socialists, like the rest of the left, often present themselves as great defenders of "the public."
In reality, the socialists are not defenders of "the public", but experts in living off taxpayers' money, as demonstrated by the fact that the Sánchez government is colonizing all kinds of institutions (and now also private companies whose shareholders include the Sociedad Estatal de Participaciones Industriales) to place people from the PSOE or close to that party.
This is nothing new. The socialists have done this every time they have governed in Spain, as well as in different autonomous communities and town councils. What some seem not to understand is that this way of using the State for the benefit of the socialists ends up ruining it, and the same happens with the public companies colonized by the socialists. The best known case is Correos, a public company in which the socialists have a huge hole of more than 1.3 billion euros, closing almost every year with losses that exceed 100 million, which will already reach more than 200 in 2024.
The latest example of the Socialists' plundering and incompetence at the head of public companies is Radiotelevisión Española (RTVE), the large state media group that is used by the PSOE as a propaganda apparatus at the service of the party, but paid for by all taxpayers, both those who vote for the PSOE and those who vote for other parties and those who do not even vote. Yesterday it became known that RTVE will ask for a government bailout after accumulating losses of 34 million euros in 2024. In this case, RTVE's hole is now 430 million euros. Yet another example of plunder and incompetence.
It must be remembered that just a few months ago RTVE hired David Broncano for 28 million euros, an indecent waste at the expense of all taxpayers that can only be explained by the fact that Pedro Sánchez wanted to silence a program on the Antena 3 channel, "El Hormiguero", because sometimes they criticize him from it. Let us remember that Sanchez had lunch with Broncano before securing his signing, according to El Independiente. As I said then, Sanchez is fiscally plundering us Spaniards to make socialist propaganda.
If any private media outlet were to do something like this, it would go bankrupt. That is not the case with RTVE. The media group controlled by the government can afford to spend money it does not have, in order to create unfair competition with private media outlets, because in the end its losses are paid for by all taxpayers. It is a purely immoral situation.
I repeat what I have said many times: in a democratic country, the existence of state media makes no sense, except to fulfill the function that RTVE and the regional public channels are fulfilling in Spain, which is to act as propaganda organs at the service of the government in power. In a country where there are abundant private media outlets that amply cover the interests of viewers, what should happen with these public media is to close them. Instead, the PSOE, the PP, the far-left and the separatists force us to pay for propaganda media at the service of politicians, even if we never see them. I will never tire of denouncing this abuse.
