As you can see, in Defense and Aviation I usually address issues that are related to the armed forces of very diverse countries.
In order to obtain the necessary information for writing my articles, I follow various communication channels of armed forces in various countries. One of the ones I have been following for years is the Youtube channel of the Puolustusvoimat (Finnish Defence Forces), which has a Combat Cameras (COMCAM) unit that does work of excellent visual quality. Every January for years, the Finnish COMCAMs publish a "showreel" with some of the images they recorded in the previous year. These videos never disappoint me. Some of them are the best military-themed content published in the world.
The Finnish COMCAM showreel for 2024 has been published today on the aforementioned YouTube channel. Finland joined NATO on April 4, 2023, so this video features personnel and defense systems from other allied countries, a fact that sends a clear message to Russia: Finland is no longer alone in defending itself.
I was watching this spectacular video until I came across this image, at point 3:04. I saw a detail here that looks very familiar to me, because I have a patch exactly like that.
In case you haven't seen the detail I'm referring to, I'll show it to you here in enlarged format: it's a flag with the Cross of Burgundy on a Multicam background. An emblem commonly used by the Spanish Armed Forces that represents the longest-lived flag that Spain had (it lasted 318 years). As far as I know, no military personnel from another European country wear this emblem, so the operators of the image are probably Spanish.
I decided to back up a bit in case I had missed any details of this scene, and came across more familiar things: these operators were carrying the shield of 200th anniversary of the National Police Corps (CNP), as we see on the right, and two of them are wearing the shield of the Special Operations Group (GEO) on their arms, the CNP's elite force. Furthermore, as can be seen in the following image, the uniforms feature the Multicam Black camouflage scheme, designed by the American firm Crye Precision and adopted by the GEO in 2022.
What we are seeing is most likely a CQC exercise (close quarters combat) conducted by the GEO in Finland. I have searched for any news that talks about this exercise but I have not found anything.
As for the weapons, the pistol we see in the first capture looks like a SIG Sauer P320, the standard weapon incorporated by the GEO in 2022, but in its training version (that's why the body of the weapon is blue).
I have doubts about the assault rifles. They look like Heckler & Koch HK416, since the magazines are the usual ones for 5.56 mm caliber bullets, but I am not aware that the GEO uses this type of weapon. They do use the HK417, but it is not a very suitable weapon for CQC assaults.
