The Spanish Legion, following tradition, once again landed in the city of Malaga this morning for Holy Week.
This year, the legionaires arrived in the Andalusian city aboard the P-46 maritime action vessel "Furor". The legionary units taking part in Málaga's Holy Week events are the Tercio "Alejandro Farnesio" 4th of the Legion, based in Ronda (Málaga), which provides the honor company and a squad of soldiers; the War Band of the Tercio "Don Juan de Austria" 3rd of the Legion; and the Music Unit of the Brigade "Rey Alfonso XIII" II of the Legion, the latter two based in Viator (Almería).
As in other years, in Málaga the legionaries have been involved in the transfer and enthronement of the Christ of the Good Death, their protector, in the Mena Brotherhood, an event that has been taking place for decades. Like last year, this time I would like to highlight the two excellent series of photos published by the Málaga City Council (here and here) showing the landing of the legionaries, their parade through the streets of the city and the act of transfer and enthronement of the Christ of the Good Death. Some photos of fabulous quality.
