A clear case of antisemitism according to a definition he subscribed to

Sánchez's double standard: He calls Israel 'genocidal' but not Hamas, Russia, or China

Despite 80 years having passed since the defeat of Nazism, the scourge of antisemitism remains very present in Europe today.

Who has committed crimes of genocide, Israel or Hamas? What the facts indicate
Hundreds of jurists from 22 nations accuse Hamas of crimes of genocide against Israel

Sánchez slanders Israel by calling it a 'genocidal state'

Yesterday, the president of the Spanish government participated in the government control session in the Congress of Deputies, in which Pedro Sánchez referred to Israel as a "genocidal state", a serious slander with which the socialist leader has provoked a new diplomatic incident with the Jewish State, which yesterday summoned the Spanish ambassador to Israel to express its protest against an accusation as serious as it is false.

It is Hamas that has committed crimes of genocide, not Israel.

As I explained here a year ago, it is not Israel that has committed crimes of genocide, but Hamas, a terrorist and antisemitic organization whose founding charter calls for the killing of all Jews. Let us remember that since 2005 and under Hamas rule, not a single Jew remained in Gaza, while in Israel there is a 21.1% Arab population. In fact, Arabs - whether Muslim, Christian or Druze - have the freedom in a democratic country like Israel that they do not have under the Islamist dictatorship of Hamas in Gaza.

The definition of antisemitism that Sánchez endorsed in 2020

In July 2020, the Sánchez government confirmed Spain's adherence to the IHRA definition of antisemitism, which consists of eleven points that outline what this hate speech against Jews consists of. This definition has been signed by 35 democratic countries, including all member states of the European Union with the sole exceptions of Cyprus and Malta. That definition can be read here, and one of its points states: "applying a double standard by asking Israel to behave in ways that are not expected or required of any other democratic country."

One need only examine his actions to realize that what Sánchez does not only fit that definition of antisemitism, but also applies a double standard to Israel that he not only applies to other democratic countries, but also to dictatorships. In fact, Sánchez treats Israel more viciously than dictatorships like Gaza (controlled by the antisemitic terrorists of Hamas), Russia, and communist China.

He has never called Hamas, which calls for the killing of Jews, 'genocidal'

Let's review the facts. Sánchez has never called Hamas "genocidal," despite being an organization that calls for the killing of Jews, a genocidal purpose that led him to perpetrate the October 7, 2023, terrorist attack against Israel, the largest massacre suffered by the Jewish people since the Holocaust. Sánchez has also not described the massacre suffered by the Jews of Israel at the hands of Hamas as a crime of genocide. Let us remember that a few days after that attack, hundreds of jurists from 22 countries described that anti-Semitic massacre as such, but Sánchez has never supported that description.

He has never called Putin or Russia a 'genocidal' or 'terrorist'

Likewise, Sánchez has never called Russia or Putin "genocidal", despite the fact that the Russian dictatorship has been carrying out an unprovoked invasion of Ukraine for three years, systematically attacking civilian targets and even murdering unarmed civilians in massacres such as those in Bucha and Izyum. Sanchez has not even called Russia a "terrorist state", ignoring Ukraine's requests, of NATO and of the European Union in that sense. Instead, Sánchez has dedicated himself to erasing the trace of Russian interference in Spain due to the 2017 separatist coup in Catalonia and has continued buying gas and oil from Russia.

He has never called China 'genocidal', despite its colossal crimes.

Along the same lines, Sánchez has not described the communist dictatorship of China as "genocidal", a dictatorship responsible for one of the largest genocides in history and which currently continues to perpetrate crimes of genocide against the Uyghur people. Far from casting any reproaches on this totalitarian regime, and while slandering a democratic country like Israel, Sánchez has publicly praised the communist dictatorship in Beijing, becoming one of its main defenders in the European Union.

Sánchez falls into the definition of antisemitism that he himself signed

Thus, according to the definition he himself signed in 2020, we can affirm that Pedro Sánchez is an anti-Semite, applying to Israel a very different standard not only than the one he applies to democratic countries, but also to dictatorships like Russia and China and to terrorists like Hamas. The Spanish left is accustomed to accusing of "hate" all those who disagree with its ideological theses, a custom that Sánchez has obsessively promoted from power, but in the end it turns out that that left has put an anti-Semite in the government of Spain and keeps him in power with its support.

For my part, I can only end these lines by saying that as a Spaniard, I feel ashamed to have an anti-Semitic government like this, and I ask the Jewish people and Israel not to confuse Spain - millions of Spaniards feel admiration for Israel and appreciation for the Jewish people - with this government of wretches and anti-Semites. Am Israel Jai!
