Violent attempts by left-wing extremists to disrupt the Vuelta a España have ultimately yielded the expected results.
This afternoon, as the chasing group of La Vuelta was riding along the CP-16-11 regional road in the municipality of Corgo (Lugo, Galicia), very close to Castroverde, a man with a Palestinian flag who was hiding on the side of the road jumped towards the cyclists, in a clear attempt not to interrupt the cyclists' progress, but to collide with them.
A Civil Guard GRS officer quickly arrived at the scene, but the extremist eventually achieved his objective, causing several cyclists to fall. You can see the video of the incident published by Eurosport here: :

As Eurosport reports, the main victim was Spanish cyclist Javier Romo of the Movistar team. After the incident, he walked, visibly angry, toward the spot where the man with the Palestinian flag jumped toward the cyclists. We can see the sequence of events here. The man with the Palestinian flag jumps from the side of the road, where he was hiding:
The man with the Palestinian flag fell by the side of the road, which may have prevented the cyclists from being even more injured. On the left, we see the Civil Guard officer running toward that spot.
Finally, the attack produced the desired result, causing a crash that affected several cyclists.
This is the foreseeable result of the riots instigated by the government and Bildu against La Vuelta, attempts to set fire to this sporting event for political purposes in which TVE has also contributed. This afternoon, in the face of this fall, TVE was outraged by this attack, after having for days justified the extremists with Palestinian flags who had tried to block the passage of cyclists.
